About this appAI proposal
Swap Ledger helps people who already own a 3D printer decide what to buy next. Put your current machine beside two or three candidates and see the trade-offs in one place: price, automatic filament systems, cloud and data practices, and build notes.
Every claim on a printer or vendor carries a label: vendor-stated, owner-reported or checked by a community reviewer, with a source link. Owners add notes from their own machines, so a missing feature or a worrying data policy shows before you pay.
You set what matters, such as offline use, multi-material printing or a budget cap, and the ledger ranks candidates by those priorities. Paid vendor listings are marked and cannot change scores.

- Why this name
- Swap is what owners do when upgrading; ledger signals an honest record of costs, claims and trust.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no price for comparison software. Verified pages show printers at $349 to $1,049 one-time, so a small monthly fee is a starting point to test against that spend.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$190,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users share shortlist and compare links in forums and chats when asking peers which printer to buy. Each page shows the evidence labels and an invite to build your own comparison.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers are also upgrade shoppers, so some could become users. Test how many who open a shared link start their own compare and how many later pay.
- First customers
- Owners of consumer filament printers with multi-material add-ons who are weighing a replacement and care about cloud and data practices.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Reddit: Post a free, sourced comparison of one popular upgrade choice and ask owners to correct it.
- Maker forums and Discord: Answer 'which printer next' threads with a shared compare link.
- Affiliate-free newsletter: Send a monthly vendor trust timeline to subscribers.
- First milestone
- 500 shared compares from one printer segment and 25 paying Upgrader subscribers within 90 days.

RisksAI inference
- DataSpec and policy data must be collected and kept current by hand at first; stale or wrong entries would destroy trust quickly.
- CommercialAffiliate or sponsored income may conflict with the promise of unbiased scores; buyers may doubt the neutrality.
- CommercialForums and video reviewers already guide buyers for free; owners may not pay for a subscription.
- RegulatoryPublished claims about vendor practices could draw disputes; each needs a source and a correction process.
- CommercialOwner notes need enough contributors per model; thin coverage makes compares look empty.
