About this appAI proposal
Skipline plays your podcasts and jumps past the sponsor reads and ad breaks that hosts put inside the episode. Your ad-free streaming plan can't touch these, because they are part of the audio itself.
Open an episode from any public feed and Skipline marks the ad segments on the timeline. Skip them automatically, or tap to skip when you choose. If a mark is wrong, one tap fixes it and helps the next listener.
It is built for people who already pay for ad-free listening and still hear ads. Marks come from automatic detection plus listener corrections, and you can always see and change what will be skipped.

- Why this name
- Skip plus line, the timeline. It names the action in two plain words and is easy to say aloud.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Automatic ad skipping
Detected sponsor reads and ad breaks are skipped as playback reaches them, with a short fade so cuts don't jar.

Visible timeline marks
Ad segments show as coloured blocks on the progress bar, so you see what will be skipped before it happens.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Listeners share an episode link with ad marks to friends. Opening it shows the episode with ads already marked and a prompt to listen in Skipline.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients are podcast listeners and can become paying users, but a one-time link opener may not convert. Test the share-to-install and install-to-paid rates.
- First customers
- Paying Spotify or Apple Podcasts subscribers who listen to several hours of ad-heavy interview and tech podcasts a week and complain about embedded ads.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Post a Show HN with a demo on a popular tech show, inviting people to try it and correct the marks.
- Podcast subreddits: Share before-and-after timelines for well-known ad-heavy shows and ask for feedback.
- Privacy and tools newsletters: Pitch a short write-up to newsletters read by people who already use ad blockers.
- First milestone
- 200 weekly active listeners and 20 paying subscribers within 60 days, with fewer than 5% of skips corrected.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimListeners pay for ad-free podcast subscriptions but still encounter ads embedded by podcasters themselves
- Public claimThere is demand for a tool that removes embedded podcast ads
- Public claimSponsorBlock provides an existing model for ad removal that could be adapted to podcasts

RisksAI inference
- AIDetection may miss host-read ads or skip real content. Wrong skips erode trust fast, so accuracy and easy correction must be proven first.
- PlatformSpotify-exclusive and similar shows are not open feeds, so Skipline can only work on public feeds, which limits which shows it covers.
- CommercialPodcasters and networks may object, and listeners may not pay when free skip buttons exist. Willingness to pay is untested.
- Intellectual propertyProcessing and transcribing copyrighted audio may raise rights questions. Storing only timestamps, not audio, reduces but does not remove this.
- TechnicalDynamically inserted ads differ between listeners, so marks for one copy may not fit another and need matching by audio.
