Desktop and mobile: Developers use the editor integration at their desk for coding, but check pace alerts and budgets on their phone throughout the day to manage usage. Sample screens on a computer and a phone, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Evenkeel gives you one endpoint that your editor or terminal agent connects to, and one monthly allowance measured in working hours rather than credits. You see your pace on your phone or desktop, so the allowance lasts the whole month instead of running dry on day twelve.
It is built for developers who like the quality of premium AI editors but run out of usage mid-task, and for those on cheaper tools who want better answers. Evenkeel sends quick edits to fast models and hard problems to stronger ones, and tells you before it changes anything.
It does not replace your editor. It works with VS Code and other tools that accept a custom model endpoint, so you keep your setup and change only where the requests go.

- Why this name
- A keel keeps a boat steady over a long trip. Evenkeel stands for even, predictable usage that carries you through the month without tipping over.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Hours, not credits
Your plan is a monthly allowance of active coding hours. No hidden per-request multipliers, and no surprise empty meter halfway through a task.

Pace meter
Shows whether you are ahead of or behind a steady monthly pace, with a projected end-of-month balance based on how you actually work.

Smart routing with a say
Small edits go to fast models, hard refactors to stronger ones. Set a floor per project so quality never drops below what you chose.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. Team plans share one hour pool, so a developer invites teammates to join the pool and see each other's pace. Shared project budgets give each member a reason to bring the rest of the team in.
- Do they become customers?
- Invitees are working developers who can become paying seats or start their own Solo plan. Test whether invited teammates convert from the free tier within the first month.
- First customers
- Solo developers and small teams of 2 to 10 who use VS Code with an AI assistant daily and have hit usage limits on a paid AI editor.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and developer forums: Post a transparent breakdown of how the pace meter works and invite people who ran out of credits to try the free tier.
- VS Code extension communities: Publish setup guides for connecting popular model-endpoint extensions and terminal agents to Evenkeel.
- Small dev team Slack groups: Offer a two-week team pool trial to engineering leads who manage tool budgets.
- First milestone
- Twenty developers pay for Solo for two straight months, and at least half say they did not run out of allowance.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimCursor is expensive and exhausts usage credits too quickly during regular development tasks
- Public claimVS Code with Copilot is slower and less intelligent than Cursor but allows developers to accomplish more work due to longer sustainability
- Public claimAlternative AI coding tools exist but lack adequate integration with VS Code
- VerifiedCursor's pricing page lists 2 paid plans, from $20 to $40 a month, plus a free plan and prices on request for larger customers

RisksAI inference
- CommercialA flat allowance can lose money if heavy users run strong models all day. Hour limits, routing and a slow lane need testing against real model costs before price is fixed.
- PlatformSome popular editors restrict custom model endpoints or tie features to their own backends, which limits where Evenkeel works. VS Code and terminal agents must be verified first.
- TechnicalThe gateway sits in the path of every edit. Added latency, streaming faults or outages would break the core promise of responsive coding.
- AIAutomatic routing may send a hard task to a weak model and give poor results. Users may judge quality by the worst answer, not the average.
- DataSource code passes through the service. Teams will want clear retention terms, no training on their code, and provider agreements to match.
