About this appAI proposal
Slatework is a tablet-first workspace installed as a web app. It puts a code editor, a sandboxed terminal, Git and a live web preview next to an AI agent, so an iPad or Android tablet can do real project work without a remote desktop.
Bring your own API keys for cloud models, or switch to a small local model in the browser when you are offline. Keys stay on your device. Files live on the device and sync to your Git remote when you choose.
It is built for developers and knowledge workers who already carry a tablet. It does not replace a full desktop setup. It covers the edits, reviews, scripts and drafts people now put off until they reach a laptop.

- Why this name
- A slate is the tablet people wrote on, and work is what it is for. Two plain words joined, easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Agent that works in your files
Ask the agent to edit files, run commands and explain diffs. Each change shows as a diff you accept or reject.

Bring your own model keys
Connect the cloud model providers you already pay for. Keys are stored encrypted on the device, not on our servers.

Local model mode
Download a small model for offline drafting and code help. The app tells you what your device can run.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It reaches customers through content, demos and developer communities. Use stays inside the workspace and produces little that non-users see, apart from commits and preview links.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether people who find it through tablet-developer content convert from Free to Pro. Preview links could be shared later, but that is not tested.
- First customers
- Solo developers and freelancers who use an iPad as a main or second device and already pay for an AI coding tool or model API.
- Where to reach them
- Tablet developer communities: Post demos and offline workflow write-ups in forums and subreddits for iPad coding.
- Open-source project issues: Join discussions around the open-source tablet agent workspace and offer a hosted-PWA alternative.
- Short video demos: Show a commit made from a tablet on a train with no signal.
- First milestone
- Fifty weekly active tablet users and ten paying Pro subscribers within eight weeks of launch.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformA PWA cannot give a true native shell. Browser limits on storage, background work and memory on iPad may cap project size and local model use.
- TechnicalRunning real toolchains in a WASM sandbox will not cover every package or compiled dependency. Some projects will not run.
- AISmall local models may be too weak for agent tasks, and BYOK calls from the browser depend on providers allowing browser requests.
- CommercialFree, open-source tablet workspaces exist per the material, and big editors have free plans. Willingness to pay for a tablet-only tool is untested.
- DataKeys and source code sit on the device. Loss, theft or browser storage clearing could expose or erase work, so backup and encryption need care.
