About this appAI proposal
Tokenwise Ledger collects usage from the AI providers your team calls and shows what each feature, model and environment costs. One dashboard replaces several provider consoles and a spreadsheet of list prices.
A workload calculator takes request volume, prompt size and output size, then compares monthly cost across providers and models using a price table you can check and edit. Engineers and product managers see the cost of a change before it ships.
It differs from a single provider's dashboard by being neutral: it compares across vendors, tags spend by feature, and warns you before a bill surprises you. Every price is stored with a date and source.

- Why this name
- Tokens are what providers bill for, and a ledger is where honest accounts are kept. Together: careful accounting of AI usage.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One view across providers
Bring usage from several AI providers into a single cost view, split by provider, model, project and day.

Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users send read-only cost reports and calculator scenarios by link to finance, managers or teammates, who see the product name and can run their own comparison.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients may be engineers or budget owners who sign up, but many will only read once. Test how many report viewers create an account.
- First customers
- Engineering leads and founders at small startups of 5 to 30 people shipping an AI feature on two or more providers.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Share the free workload calculator with a dated price table and invite feedback on the data.
- Developer communities: Offer help in AI engineering forums and Discords with cost comparisons, linking to the tool.
- First milestone
- Ten teams connect real usage, and three of them pay for the Team tier within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- DataPrice tables go stale or are wrong as providers change prices often; a wrong comparison would cost trust. Needs dated sources and fast edits.
- PlatformProviders may limit usage or billing APIs, or change formats, which can break tracking.
- CommercialEvidence is a single Hacker News post with 20 points and 8 comments. Willingness to pay is unproven, and providers or observability tools may add cost views.
- TechnicalA proxy adds latency and a failure point; teams may refuse to route production traffic through a new service.
- DataHandling provider keys and usage metadata raises security expectations that a small team must meet early.
