About this appAI proposal
Lanekeep is a workspace for people who use AI for both everyday conversation and coding. You connect your own model API keys, then give each kind of work its own lane: chat, code, analysis. Each lane has its own monthly allowance, so a long coding session never eats the budget for ordinary questions.
You choose how the allowance is split and when to change it. Lanekeep shows what each lane has used, warns you before a lane runs out, and lets you lend allowance from one lane to another for a week. Nothing changes silently.
It is for professionals and developers who dislike a single shared quota and want to decide the trade-offs themselves. Because it works with several providers, a plan change at one provider does not force you to leave or upgrade.

- Why this name
- Lanes are the separate paths for each kind of work, and keep says you hold the controls. Two plain words joined into one pronounceable name.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Lanes with their own allowances
Create chat, code and analysis lanes. Each has its own cap, so heavy use in one never drains another.

Lend allowance for a week
Move part of one lane's allowance to another for a set period. It returns automatically when the week ends.

The material gives no competitor prices, so these tiers are a starting point to test. The cost of model usage is paid by the user to their own provider.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Lanekeep is a personal tool. It reaches customers through content, communities and search, not through its own use. Team sharing could be added later but is not the first loop.
- Do they become customers?
- People who find it through content can become paying users directly. Test whether subscribers worried about shared quotas will pay to use API keys instead.
- First customers
- Solo developers who pay for an AI assistant subscription and use it for both chat and coding, and who have complained publicly about usage limits.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub issue threads: Join discussions about usage limits and offer a free lane setup to people who describe the problem.
- Developer forums: Post a worked example of splitting a monthly AI budget by task type, with a link to a free tier.
- Short demo videos: Show a quota change handled with a one-tap loan, aimed at searches about AI usage limits.
- First milestone
- Twenty free signups from limit-related threads, with five converting to the paid plan within 60 days.

- AI inferenceSeparate ChatGPT and Codex usage allowances are a meaningful product differentiator that drives Plus subscription decisions.
- AI inferenceUsers may churn to competitors like Claude if a major advantage of ChatGPT Plus disappears, rather than upgrade to Pro.
- Public claimThe issuer was considering Pro upgrade but would reconsider leaving ChatGPT if a shared quota interferes with ordinary conversations.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialThe pain is shown by one open issue with 24 reactions. Users on flat subscriptions may not want to pay API rates, so the audience may be smaller than it looks.
- PlatformUsage inside ChatGPT or other first-party apps cannot be read or capped. Lanekeep only governs use routed through its own workspace with API keys.
- TechnicalHolding user API keys and proxying requests needs strong security, and a breach would be severe.
- CommercialProviders may add their own per-task usage controls, which would remove the reason to use a separate tool.
- AIToken and cost counts differ between providers and change with pricing updates, so displayed spend may drift from invoices.
