About this appAI proposal
Openbench turns a plain description into a working web app or site, then hands you the whole codebase. Every project is a normal Git repository. You can edit it by hand, ask the AI for changes, or move it to any host you like.
It is for developers who want a faster start, technical builders who want control, and non-technical people who want a site without being tied to one vendor. Bring your own model key, or use hosted credits and pay for what you use.
The difference is ownership. You can run Openbench on your own server, read how it works, and leave at any time with your code intact.

- Why this name
- A bench is where makers work with open tools in plain view. Open signals the open-source code you can inspect and self-host.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Apps and sites built with Openbench can carry an optional small 'Built with Openbench' badge and a link to the public repo. Shared preview links let viewers see how the app was made.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers of a preview link are mostly clients and users, not builders. Test whether the badge and repo link convert even a small share of them to sign-ups, and whether those sign-ups pay.
- First customers
- Freelance web developers and small agencies who already pay for an AI builder and want client code in their own repositories.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and open-source communities: Publish the repo with a clear self-host guide and share progress with the people who starred it.
- Developer forums and newsletters: Post build write-ups showing the same project built here and exported to any host.
- Direct outreach to agencies: Offer free setup help to ten small agencies in exchange for feedback and a trial of the hosted plan.
- First milestone
- Ten paying Pro or Team users, mostly freelancers or small agencies, within 90 days of the hosted launch.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialFree self-hosting may keep most users off paid plans. Demand for hosted credits and team features must be shown. The only verified demand is 302 GitHub stars in 35 days.
- TechnicalSafe sandboxes for running generated code are hard to build and secure, and they drive hosting costs.
- AIGenerated code can be wrong or insecure, and quality depends on third-party models that change in price and behavior.
- CommercialReplit and v0 are established paid products. Matching their speed and polish with a small team is difficult.
- Intellectual propertyThe choice of open-source license affects whether others can host a competing paid service. Generated code ownership terms need review.
