About this appAI proposal
Larkbox is a shared inbox for teams that answer email together: support, sales and customer service groups at small and mid-size companies. Every message gets an owner, a status and a suggested category, so nobody wonders who is replying.
AI sits in the workflow, not beside it. It sorts incoming mail, proposes who should take it and drafts a reply from your past answers. A person reads, edits and sends. Nothing goes out on its own unless you switch that on for a given rule.
Your mail is not locked in. Connect your own mailbox, export everything at any time, and choose hosted or self-hosted. The team brings its own AI key, so you decide which model sees your mail.

- Why this name
- A lark is an early riser that sings first, like a quick reply. Box says inbox. Two plain syllables, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Claim and assign
Take a thread, hand it off or mark it done. Everyone sees who is on it, so two people never answer the same customer.

Auto-sorting
Incoming mail is tagged as billing, bug, sales lead or other, and you can correct tags to teach it your categories.

Smart routing rules
Send mail to the right person or queue by topic, sender, language or urgency. Review why a thread was routed.

Drafts from your past replies
The AI proposes a reply using your team's earlier answers and saved snippets. Edit it, then send.

The material gives no competitor prices. These tiers are a starting point to test, not based on market data. The one named competitor is open source (AGPL), so a free tier is likely expected.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Replies sent from Larkbox reach customers who are outside the team. An optional small footer and a shared help-address link can show where the reply came from.
- Do they become customers?
- Customers who receive replies are rarely buyers; some work in teams with the same problem. Test whether a footer or shared link brings any signups, and do not count on it.
- First customers
- Support or sales teams of 3 to 15 people at software and e-commerce companies that share one or two inboxes and have a developer who can connect it.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source communities: Join discussions on GitHub and developer forums where self-hosted email tools are compared, and offer a migration guide.
- Founder and support communities: Post in support-ops and indie founder groups with a short demo of draft review and routing.
- Direct outreach: Message heads of support at small SaaS firms about the cost of their current shared mailbox or help desk.
- First milestone
- Ten teams using it on live inboxes for four weeks, and five of them paying.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialAn open-source competitor (AGPL, deployable on Cloudflare Workers) already offers an AI-native team email workspace. Larkbox must win on easier setup and polish, not on features alone.
- TechnicalReliable mail sync across providers, threading, attachments and deliverability is hard, and small bugs lose customer mail.
- AIWrong or off-tone drafts could reach customers. Human review by default and clear source display are needed.
- DataSending team mail to third-party models raises privacy concerns, and some buyers may need per-inbox AI controls or contracts.
- PlatformMail providers can limit API or connection access, and some may flag shared access to a mailbox.
