About this appAI proposal
Cutroom is a browser-based video editor where people and AI agents work on the same timeline. Footage, edits, graphics and comments live in one project, so an agent no longer has to guess from a text description what is on the drive.
It is for small video teams, ad studios and agent operators who run several agents on one project. Feedback is pinned to a frame and readable by both humans and agents, instead of arriving as screenshots in chat.
Every edit is stored as readable project data that agents change through a tool interface and people can inspect, undo and review. A review link lets clients comment without an account.

- Why this name
- A cutting room is where film gets assembled and reviewed. Cutroom keeps that idea: one shared space where everyone, human or agent, works on the cut.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One timeline for people and agents
Editors and agents change the same timeline live. Each has a visible cursor, so you can see who is touching which clip.

Agent tool access
Agents connect through an MCP tool interface to read footage, trim, add titles and render previews in the shared project.

Frame-pinned feedback
Comments and drawn notes attach to a timecode and region. Agents receive them as structured tasks, not screenshots.

Edits as readable code
Cuts, graphics and scenes are stored as text-based project data. Compare versions, roll back and see what each agent did.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Review links send clients and freelancers to a branded viewer where they comment on frames. Exported cuts and agent runs can carry a small Made in Cutroom credit on the free tier.
- Do they become customers?
- Reviewers are often agency clients or producers who run their own projects, but many only watch once. Test how many link viewers open an account and start a project within 30 days.
- First customers
- Small ad and content studios of 2 to 10 people who already run AI agents to produce short-form video ads and need client feedback in one place.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and X demos: Post short clips of agents and editors cutting one timeline, with a free project template people can open.
- Agent builder communities: Offer the MCP interface in Discord groups and forums where agent operators share video workflows.
- Direct outreach to ad studios: Message studio founders, and offer a free trial project on one real campaign.
- First milestone
- Ten studios run a real client project through Cutroom, and at least five pay for Pro within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this

- AI inferenceFrontier AI models can now edit video and create motion graphics, but lack shared context and collaborative infrastructure for teams and agents
- AI inferenceTeams are already using AI agents to generate video content daily, with multiple agents iterating on shared projects
- AI inferenceFull-time filmmakers are adopting the tool, with workflows involving 15+ agents iterating on a single project

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalDecoding professional formats and 250GB clips in the browser, plus live multi-agent timeline sync, is hard. Playback may stutter without server-made proxies.
- CommercialA free tier with unlimited imports, exports and agent access may cover most small teams, leaving few reasons to pay $25 per editor.
- PlatformThe product relies on outside AI models and agent tool protocols that change often. Agent edit quality is not under our control.
- RegulatoryStudios have strict security rules for footage. Cloud storage may be refused until audits, access controls and retention options exist.
- Intellectual propertyRemotion is a code-first video framework the material says a similar product builds on. Its licence terms for commercial use must be checked.
