About this appAI proposal
Dayfold is an email app built around AI from the start. It sorts incoming mail into what needs you, what can wait and what is noise, and sends a short digest so you can stay on top of things without opening the inbox.
Reply by speaking. Say what you want to answer and Dayfold writes the draft in your tone and waits for your approval. Nothing is sent without a tap.
It is for knowledge workers with a heavy Gmail load. Triage, summaries and drafting are the main way you use the app, not a feature added to an old inbox.

- Why this name
- Dayfold suggests folding a day's mail into one small page, with a paper-like calm. It is two plain syllables and easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Three-lane triage
Every message lands in Needs you, Can wait or Noise, with a one-line reason so you can see why and correct it.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Dayfold works on a person's own mailbox, so use does not reach new people. Replies sent from it carry no visible branding. Growth would come from content, communities and word of mouth.
- Do they become customers?
- No built-in loop. Test whether a short demo of the digest and voice reply on social and developer communities converts free users to Pro, and whether people recommend it unprompted.
- First customers
- Solo consultants and agency founders who handle 100 or more Gmail messages a day and answer clients themselves.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Show HN: Post a demo of triage and voice drafts, since the signal came from a discussion there. Ask for testers who handle heavy email.
- Independent consultant communities: Offer free Pro for 30 days in forums and newsletters for freelancers, in exchange for feedback on misclassified mail.
- First milestone
- Twenty heavy-email users connect Gmail and use it for two weeks, and at least five pay for Pro.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformGmail API access to read mail needs Google's restricted-scope review and a security assessment. This could delay launch by weeks or months.
- AIA wrong triage call could hide an important message. Users may stop trusting the lanes after one miss, so explanations and easy undo are essential.
- DataThe product handles private email content sent to an LLM provider. Customers will want clear retention rules and a no-training guarantee.
- CommercialThe material says earlier attempts to beat Gmail did not solve overload. Users may not switch apps or pay for what feels like a Gmail add-on.
- TechnicalVoice capture and push notifications in a PWA behave differently across iOS and Android browsers, which may limit the digest experience.
