About this appAI proposal
Referrow shows publishers how AI systems find and use their content. It separates AI crawler visits, readers arriving from AI answers and chat products, and ordinary search traffic, so this channel stops hiding inside 'direct' and 'referral'.
For each article you see which AI crawlers fetched it, whether a generative engine cited it, and how many readers came back through that citation and then subscribed or clicked. Built for independent publishers, newsletter writers and small media teams.
Setup is a small script tag plus an optional server-log upload. Referrow does not replace your main analytics. It adds the AI view that general tools lack, according to the signals we reviewed.

- Why this name
- Refer plus furrow: a line cut through a field, tracing where new readers arrive from. Short and easy to say.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Publishers can share a public AI visibility badge and a read-only report link with advertisers, sponsors and partners, showing AI citations and referrals for their site.
- Do they become customers?
- Report viewers are often sponsors or other publishers who could become customers, but a one-time view brings none by itself. Test whether viewers sign up from the report link.
- First customers
- Independent newsletter and niche-blog publishers with 50k to 500k monthly visits who earn from subscriptions or affiliate links.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub communities: Engage in the repositories and discussions about AI crawler tracking, where interest is already visible, and offer a free scan.
- Publisher newsletters: Sponsor or guest-write in creator-economy newsletters with a free AI traffic audit.
- SEO forums: Share crawl-to-referral findings from anonymised sample sites in generative search discussion groups.
- First milestone
- Ten publishers install the script and three pay for Creator within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- DataAI products often send no clear referrer, so some AI-sourced visits will be misclassified. Accuracy needs a stated method and honest confidence labels.
- PlatformQuerying generative engines for coverage checks may breach their terms or break when interfaces change, and may cost per query.
- TechnicalCrawler user-agent lists change often and can be spoofed, so the list needs constant upkeep and verification.
- CommercialLarge analytics vendors could add an AI channel, leaving small publishers with little reason to pay for a separate tool.
- RegulatoryCollecting visitor data for publishers in the EU requires consent handling and a privacy-first design.
