About this appAI proposal
Citewise checks whether AI search and chatbot engines can find and cite your website. It scores your pages on a 0–100 readiness rubric, then runs your chosen questions against the AI engines you connect and records whether your site is cited.
It is built for website owners and publishers who depend on search traffic and now want to know what happens in AI-generated answers. Instead of typing queries into each chatbot by hand and keeping notes, you set a schedule and read a trend line.
You bring your own API keys, so queries run under your accounts and the history is stored in your workspace and exportable. Each low score comes with a plain fix list, so you know what to change first.

- Why this name
- Cite is what you want AI answers to do with your site; wise means knowing where you stand. Two plain parts, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
0–100 AI readiness score
A fixed rubric checks crawl access, structure, clear answers and source signals on each page, and shows the points lost per check.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users share a public score badge or a report link with clients, teammates or on their site. Viewers see the score and the Citewise name.
- Do they become customers?
- Report viewers are often site owners or agency clients who could run their own check. Test how many click through from a shared report and start a free scan.
- First customers
- Independent publishers and small content-site owners who get most traffic from search and already pay for an SEO tool.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and developer forums: Reach people discussing AI search visibility and own-key tools; offer a free scan and share findings.
- SEO and publisher communities: Post anonymised score breakdowns of sample sites and invite owners to scan their own.
- First milestone
- Five paying publishers on the Solo plan, and 100 free scans completed within the first two months.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformEngine APIs may change, limit access or answer differently from the consumer chat products, so tracked citations may not match what real users see.
- AIAI answers vary run to run, so single checks are noisy. Trends need repeated sampling, which raises cost on the user's keys.
- CommercialThe scoring rubric is unproven as a predictor of citations. Users may doubt a score that does not move their results.
- DataStoring users' API keys creates a security duty; a leak would be costly and damage trust.
- CommercialThe open-source repository interest suggests free alternatives may exist that owners can run themselves.
