About this appAI proposal
Keyring Desk gives developers one dashboard for the slow parts of starting an LLM project: getting provider keys, setting up billing, and keeping both under control. Connect your provider accounts once, create a scoped key for each project, and see what each one costs.
It is for solo developers and small AI teams who want to move from prototype to production without juggling provider consoles. Keys sit in a vault, your app receives revocable project tokens, and each token carries a budget you set up front.
Unlike a provider's own console, it is not tied to one model vendor: one spend view and one set of limits cover every provider you use. The evidence only shows that key and billing setup is a reported pain point; the design is a proposal.

- Why this name
- A keyring holds many keys in one place, and a desk is where the work gets done. Plain words, easy to say.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Guided key setup
A step-by-step checklist per provider walks you through getting a key and enabling billing, so you reach a first working call sooner.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reached through content, developer communities and search. Teammate invites exist but are internal to a paying team, so they are not the main loop.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who find it are the buyers, so exposure can convert. Test whether solo developers pay for caps and a unified spend view when providers offer their own consoles.
- First customers
- Small teams of 2 to 10 engineers shipping their first LLM feature and using more than one model provider.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Show HN post with a short write-up on setting up keys and billing, where the pain was reported.
- Developer newsletters: Sponsor or pitch a guide on safe LLM key handling and spend caps.
- First milestone
- Ten teams on the Pro tier within 60 days of launch, each running a project with a hard cap.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimHundreds of thousands of paying customers are using AI Studio in production today
- Public claimGetting an API key is complex and frustrating enough to be a notable pain point
- Public claimIntegrating billing directly into the development environment accelerates the path to production
- EstimateOpenRouter: $160M annualized revenue (Aug 2026), up from $50M at end of 2025 (Sacra estimate) (Aug 2026)

RisksAI inference
- PlatformProviders may change terms, forbid key resale or proxying, or add their own billing and key tools, which would narrow the gap.
- TechnicalA proxy adds latency and becomes a single point of failure for customers' production traffic.
- DataStoring provider keys makes the vault a high-value target; a breach would end trust in the product.
- CommercialThe material cites Google AI Studio with integrated billing and many paying customers; developers may stay with their provider's console.
