ScreensConcept
Desktop and mobile: Security testers capture traffic by scanning phones in the field but replay and analyze requests in detail from a desktop workspace. Sample screens on a computer and a phone, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Tracebench is a browser-based workspace for API security testers. Scan a code on a test phone, or upload an APK, and the traffic shows up in your workspace as requests you can replay, edit and diff. The proxy, certificate and networking steps are handled for you.
It is built for API pentesters and security consultants who now configure proxies, trust stores and rooted devices before they reach the real work. The setup is meant to take minutes, so the hours go to testing.
Every session is saved with its scope, findings and evidence, so a retest or a handover to a teammate starts from the same state. Whether it covers enough of what existing tools do is something the first users must judge.

- Why this name
- A trace is the captured traffic; a bench is where a tester works. Two plain words that say the tool is a place to get to work.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Scan-to-capture for test phones
Scan a code on a test device. A guided profile routes its traffic to your workspace, with the certificate step walked through on screen.
No member yet
APK prep for interception
Upload an APK. Tracebench prepares a test build that trusts the capture certificate, and flags where pinning still blocks traffic.
No member yet
Replay, edit and diff
Send any captured request again, change headers or tokens, and compare responses side by side to spot broken authorization.
No member yet
Scope guard
Set the hosts you are allowed to test. Out-of-scope traffic is dropped from capture and never stored.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A tester invites a teammate or a client reviewer into a session to view captured traffic and findings. They open the shared session in the browser instead of receiving files.
- Do they become customers?
- Teammates are likely buyers; client reviewers mostly only see it. Test whether invited security colleagues start their own workspaces, and whether reviewers ever become buyers.
- First customers
- Independent API and mobile pentest consultants and small boutique security firms of 2 to 10 people, who test mobile-backed APIs for clients.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Show HN: Post a working demo for the setup problem raised in the source thread and invite testers from the comments to try it.
- Security communities: Share short capture walkthroughs in pentesting forums and Discords, with a free workspace to try.
- Direct outreach: Message consultants who publish mobile API write-ups, and offer a free Pro trial in exchange for feedback.
- First milestone
- Ten testers capture a real mobile app's traffic in under ten minutes, and five of them pay for Pro within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalCertificate pinning and newer Android trust rules can block capture even on prepared builds. If many real apps still need manual work, the zero-setup promise fails.
- CommercialTesters are loyal to tools they know and have extensions for. A new tool must match enough of the core workflow before anyone switches. Only the pain of setup is supported by the evidence.
- DataCaptured traffic from client engagements holds secrets and personal data. Routing it through a hosted relay may be refused by clients, and a breach would end trust.
- RegulatoryIntercepting traffic and modifying apps needs authorization. Terms of use, scope checks and abuse handling are needed so the tool is not used against systems the user has no permission to test.
- PlatformA PWA cannot set up device tunnels or install certificates itself. It depends on OS-level VPN profiles and steps that Android and iOS may change.
