About this appAI proposal
Pagewright is a hosted document service for developers who produce invoices, contracts, certificates and reports from their own software. You design a template in HTML, send it JSON data, and get back a PDF. No headless Chrome container to run, no print CSS tricks to maintain.
The renderer is built for paper, not screens. Tables split across pages with repeating headers, blocks stay together instead of being cut in half, and content adapts to whatever length your data has, so you do not paginate by hand.
A template preview shows the real page breaks with your sample data before you ship. A template can be called by people, by scripts, or by AI agents through an MCP endpoint, so a whole document comes back from a single call.

- Why this name
- A pagewright makes pages the way a playwright makes plays. The name is plain, easy to say, and points to page-making.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
HTML templates, print-aware
Write templates in the HTML and CSS you already know. Page size, margins, headers and footers are set with simple template settings.

Automatic pagination
Long tables break cleanly with repeated headers. Keep-together blocks and orphan control stop content from overflowing page edges.

One call, one PDF
POST a template ID and JSON data. Get a PDF back, or a signed link when you render in batches.

Overflow preview
Preview a template against short, typical and very long sample data and see where each page breaks before you deploy.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Partners and integrations. Ready-made templates and short guides for common stacks (Node, Python, no-code automation tools, MCP clients) bring developers in from where they already look for a PDF solution.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who integrate are the paying customers, so reach converts directly. Test whether free-tier users hit limits and upgrade, since the recipients of the PDFs never see the product.
- First customers
- Backend developers at small SaaS companies of 5 to 50 people who generate invoices or reports and currently run their own headless Chrome setup.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and dev forums: Post a technical write-up on print pagination problems and the fixes, with a live template preview to try.
- Open-source template gallery: Publish free invoice, certificate and report templates on GitHub that render with one call.
- MCP and agent communities: Share the MCP server with people building agents that must output documents.
- First milestone
- Ten teams move a real production document flow to the API, and at least five pay for a plan within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialDevelopers can self-host headless Chrome or use free open-source tools. The hosted service must be clearly easier on pagination and ops to justify paying.
- TechnicalReliable page-break handling for tables, nested blocks and varied fonts is hard, and edge cases will surface with real customer templates.
- TechnicalRunning browser workers at scale is costly and can fail under load, with memory spikes and slow cold starts hurting margins and latency.
- DataDocuments such as invoices and contracts hold personal and financial data. Customers will ask about retention, encryption and deletion before they send it.
- AIAgent-generated templates may produce broken layouts or wrong data in documents with legal weight, so validation and review steps are needed.
