About this appAI proposal
Latchkey scans your live web app from the outside, the way an attacker would. It maps what is exposed, tries known-CVE checks, and reports what it found. You run it before launch, not after a breach.
Every finding is written twice: once for the developer with the steps to fix it, once in business terms for a client, co-founder or investor. A ranked list tells you what to fix first.
It is for indie developers and small SaaS teams who cannot pay for a pentest and do not want to run and interpret open-source scanners themselves. It is an automated scan, not a manual pentest.

- Why this name
- A latch is the small, cheap part that keeps a door shut. The name is plain, easy to say, and suggests a quick check before you go live.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Attack surface discovery
Enter your domain. Latchkey finds subdomains, open ports, exposed services and forgotten endpoints on your live app.

Known-CVE checks
Runs checks for known vulnerabilities against what it found and reports which ones were actually reachable.

Business-impact wording
Each finding explains what data or service is at risk in plain language that non-technical readers can follow.

Fix-first ranking
Findings are ordered by risk and effort, so a small team knows what to do in the next hour.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor prices except pentests at €5K–€20K. The 19 single scan and 49/month plan come from the opportunity's proposed model, shown here in USD. The Team tier is a guess to test.
Single scan
$19 once
- One full scan of one domain
- Business-impact report
- Developer fix notes
- One re-scan within 14 days
Launch
$49 a month
- Recurring scans of one app
- Dashboard and history
- Shareable report links
- Email alerts on new findings
Team
$149 a month
- Up to five apps
- Weekly scheduled scans
What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Each scan produces a report link a founder can send to a client or investor. The recipient sees a short note on who produced it and can run their own scan.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients are often other founders or advisers who could become buyers, but many are one-time readers. Test how many report views lead to a scan started.
- First customers
- Solo founders and teams of 1–5 launching a B2B SaaS in the next 60 days, who expect a security questionnaire from their first clients.
- Where to reach them
- Product Hunt launch makers: Reach makers with upcoming launches by commenting usefully and offering a free first scan before their launch day.
- Indie Hackers and Hacker News: Post a write-up of common findings from scanning consenting volunteers' apps, with the tool linked.
- Founder communities: Offer pre-launch scans in startup Slack and Discord groups, asking for feedback on the report.
- First milestone
- Twenty scans run and five paying customers from pre-launch SaaS founders within eight weeks of release.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimProfessional security testing is prohibitively expensive for early-stage teams.
- Public claimMost early-stage products skip security testing until external pressure.
- Public claimThe market is actively paying for security scanning at accessible price points.
- Public claimReal breaches of early-stage SaaS show the impact of skipped security testing.
- Public claimExisting tools require manual setup and interpretation; a managed alternative addresses a real gap.

RisksAI inference
- RegulatoryScanning systems without permission can be illegal. Ownership checks, scan limits and terms of use are required, and cloud hosts may restrict scans.
- TechnicalRunning scanners safely at scale needs isolated workers and rate limits so scans do not take down a customer's small app.
- CommercialFree open-source tools do the same checks, so buyers must value the plain-language reports and the saved time over the scan itself.
- AIGenerated impact explanations may overstate or understate risk. Findings need templates and human-reviewed wording for common cases.
- CommercialAn automated scan is not a pentest. Some clients or investors may not accept it, which limits what the report can replace.
