About this appAI proposal
Showstep turns a screen recording of real work into a written skill: a one-line intent and an ordered list of steps. You record a task once, review the draft in plain language, fix what it got wrong, and export it for the automation platform your team already uses.
It is for knowledge workers and process teams who know how a task is done but do not want to write out the intent and steps by hand. Sensitive fields can be masked before anything is analysed, and every step links back to the moment in the recording it came from.
Unlike a raw recorder, Showstep treats the AI draft as a first pass. A reviewer approves each step, marks variables such as file names or customer IDs, and only then exports. Export targets in the material are Microsoft Scout, Copilot Studio and Copilot Cowork.

Variable spotting
Values that change between runs, like names or dates, are flagged so the skill is reusable, not a one-off.

An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Reviewers and colleagues receive a link to a skill page with steps and recording clips. They can comment and approve without an account, then see Showstep named on the page.
- Do they become customers?
- Reviewers are often process owners who could become buyers, but a one-time viewer may never pay. Test how many link viewers go on to record their own skill.
- First customers
- Operations and process-improvement leads at mid-size companies already piloting Copilot Studio, with teams of 5 to 20 people doing repetitive back-office work.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source repo community: Engage the GitHub project's users and issues, and offer a hosted, reviewed version for teams.
- LinkedIn outreach: Message automation and operations leads who post about Copilot Studio pilots, offering a free pilot.
- Microsoft community forums: Answer skill-authoring questions and share worked examples of recorded skills.
- First milestone
- Five teams in one vertical each record and export at least three skills, and two agree to pay for Pro or Team.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalA PWA can only record the browser tab or a shared screen, not read actions in desktop apps. Step accuracy from video alone may be low and need heavy manual review.
- PlatformExport formats and APIs for Scout, Copilot Studio and Copilot Cowork may change or lack public import paths. Integration claims in the material are public claims, not verified.
- CommercialMicrosoft or the open-source repository could ship similar capture natively. The repository's star growth is verified, but demand from paying teams is not.
- DataRecordings may contain customer or personal data. Enterprise buyers will require masking, retention limits and clear processing terms before they allow use.
- AIThe model may invent steps or miss conditions. Reviewers could approve a wrong skill, so each step needs visible evidence from the recording.
