About this appAI proposal
Evenbook is a ledger that checks your bank's numbers. You import statements or transaction exports, and it keeps its own double-entry record of every transfer. It then matches the two and flags what doesn't agree: a missing deposit, a transfer that left one account and never arrived, or a balance that doesn't add up.
When the books can't be made to agree, Evenbook says so. It never hides a gap or rounds it away. Each mismatch becomes a dated case with the transactions involved, the amount and a running history. You can export it as a clear report to send to your bank or auditor.
It is for people and small organisations who rely on exact transfers and reconciliation, and who have been told that a discrepancy is expected behavior. Evenbook doesn't move money. It keeps an independent record that you control.

- Why this name
- Even means balanced to the cent and fair. Book recalls the ledger. Two plain words, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Double-entry by default
Every transfer is recorded as two sides that must net to zero. Anything that breaks that rule is shown, not hidden.

Statement import and matching
Import CSV or OFX exports. Evenbook matches by amount, date and reference and lists what is unmatched on either side.

Honest inconsistency alerts
When balances can't be reconciled, you get a plain notice with the exact difference. No silent rounding or auto-fixes.

Discrepancy cases
Each mismatch is a case with a timeline, linked transactions, notes and a status, so nothing gets closed without a reason.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.

Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users send evidence reports and share links to bank support, auditors or co-signers. Each report carries a small 'Prepared with Evenbook' mark and a link to a sample.
- Do they become customers?
- Bank support staff open the report once and are unlikely to buy. Bookkeepers, co-signers and auditors might. Test whether reviewers who open a shared case start their own ledger.
- First customers
- Small nonprofits and clubs with a volunteer treasurer who reconciles one or two bank accounts by hand each month.
- Where to reach them
- Treasurer communities: Offer a free reconciliation check in forums and groups for volunteer treasurers and small association bookkeepers.
- Hacker News and fintech forums: Post a write-up on honest inconsistency reporting in ledgers, and invite readers to try a real import.
- Independent bookkeepers: Offer a free Team seat to bookkeepers who serve small organisations and ask them to try it on one client.
- First milestone
- Ten treasurers import real statements, and at least three pay for Plus within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- AI inferenceBanking software has critical bugs where money goes missing and transfers are inconsistent
- AI inferenceCustomer service dismisses accounting bugs as intended behavior rather than system failures
- AI inferenceAccounting systems must be accurate or report errors when consistency cannot be maintained

RisksAI inference
- CommercialThe evidence is thin: it rests on AI inference and one public claim from a forum. It's unproven that enough people pay to check their bank's numbers.
- TechnicalBank exports differ in format, dates and references. Matching can give false mismatches, which would undermine a product that sells accuracy.
- CommercialEvenbook doesn't fix the bank's bug. A report may not change how support responds, so users may see little benefit.
- RegulatoryHandling financial data may bring privacy and data-protection duties. Reports must not read as legal or accounting advice.
- DataWithout bank connections, users must import files by hand. That friction may cause them to stop using it.
