About this appAI proposal
Kerfline is a parametric 3D CAD workspace that opens in a browser tab. There is nothing to install and no licence key. Models are stored on your device first and keep working offline. Sketches, features and dimensions stay editable, so changing one number rebuilds the part.
It is built for engineers, product designers and hobbyists, and for teams that want AI agents to work on designs. An agent connects through the Model Context Protocol. It can read the feature tree, change parameters and propose edits. You review each edit before it is applied.
The free plan covers core modeling on one device. Paid plans add cloud sync, shared projects, version history and agent access controls for teams.

- Why this name
- A kerf is the cut a blade leaves. A line is a sketch's first stroke. Together: a precise, workshop-flavored name that is short and easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Opens in a tab, works offline
Nothing to install. After the first load the app and your files work without a connection, and files stay on your device.

Editable parametric history
Sketches, extrudes, fillets and named dimensions live in a feature tree. Change a value and the model rebuilds.

Agent connection over MCP
Connect an AI agent that can list parameters, read the tree and request changes to a part.

Review before apply
Agent edits arrive as a proposed change with a before and after view. Accept, edit or reject each one.

PricingAI proposal
Verified: Onshape lists two paid plans from $1,500 to $2,500 a year, plus a free plan. Our tiers sit well below that. The prices are a starting point to test, not market data.

If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users send share links that open a read-only 3D view with measuring in any browser. Recipients see the Kerfline name and a prompt to open a copy.
- Do they become customers?
- Suppliers, clients and colleagues can become users by opening a copy, so conversion is plausible. Test what share of viewers open a copy, and whether any pay.
- First customers
- Small hardware startups and product design studios of 2 to 10 people that 3D print prototypes and already experiment with AI agents.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and open-source CAD forums: Post example parts and agent demos where the cited repository is discussed, and invite beta testers.
- Maker and 3D printing communities: Share parametric templates that open in one click, with a free plan.
- Hardware startup communities: Offer a free pilot to teams and ask about agent workflows.
- First milestone
- Five small design teams pay for Pro or Team for two months, and each has accepted agent edits on a real part.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalParametric rebuilds, constraint solving and robust fillets are hard. WASM kernels can be slow or run out of memory on big assemblies, especially on phones.
- CommercialUsers with years of SolidWorks or Fusion files may not switch. Onshape already has a free plan, so the free tier alone may not win users.
- AIAgents may make edits that look valid but break design intent or tolerances. Review-before-apply helps, but reviewing costs time.
- DataLocal-first sync needs conflict handling for binary-heavy models. Browsers can evict local storage, which risks losing unsynced work.
- Intellectual propertyThe GitHub project is open source. Reusing or competing with its code needs a licence check, and the kernel's licence terms must be reviewed.
