About this appAI proposal
Benchhand is a web app for running coding agents beside the editor you already like. Point it at a Git repo, pick Claude Agent SDK or Codex, describe a task, and it works in an isolated cloud sandbox on its own branch. You review the diff, then open it in Cursor or any editor.
It is for developers who prefer Cursor but want Claude Agent SDK or Codex, which the material says Cursor lacks. Instead of switching editors or juggling terminals, you keep your editor and send agent work out to Benchhand.
Bring your own Claude or OpenAI access, or use metered cloud runs. Tasks queue, run in parallel and can be checked from a phone. Benchhand is not an editor and does not try to replace one.

- Why this name
- A bench hand is the helper at the next workstation. It points at agents doing work beside you, not a new editor taking over.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Two agent backends, one task box
Choose Claude Agent SDK or Codex per task, or run both on the same prompt and compare the diffs side by side.

Isolated branch per run
Every task gets its own sandbox and Git branch. Nothing touches your main branch until you merge.

Open in your editor
One tap gives a deep link or a git command to check out the agent's branch in Cursor or any other editor.

Bring your own subscription
Connect your own Claude or OpenAI access where the provider's terms allow, so you do not pay twice for model use.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users send read-only review links to a run, showing the diff, tests and agent notes, to teammates and reviewers, who see Benchhand's name on the page.
- Do they become customers?
- Reviewers are often developers and could become seat holders. Test how many link visitors create an account and start their own run within 14 days.
- First customers
- Solo developers and small startup teams of 2 to 10 engineers who use Cursor daily and already pay for Claude or OpenAI access.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Post a demo of one task run on Claude and Codex, then opened in Cursor. Reply to threads asking for Cursor agent support.
- Developer communities: Share workflow write-ups in Cursor and Claude forums and Discords, and invite users to a waitlist.
- Founder outreach: Offer a free month to 20 small teams in return for weekly feedback calls.
- First milestone
- Ten paying developers on Solo or Team, each running at least five agent tasks a week for a month.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimDevelopers would switch from Cursor if it supported Claude Agent SDK with Claude Max subscription usage and Codex similar to Conductor
- Public claimThere is demand for paid subscription and usage-based pricing models for advanced agent capabilities
- Public claimSome developers remain with current tools due to heavily subsidized pricing despite preferring other products
- Public claimCursor has strong product design and vision in the AI code editor space

RisksAI inference
- PlatformUsing a Claude Max subscription inside a third-party service may not be allowed by Anthropic's terms. Bring-your-own access may have to be limited to API keys.
- CommercialCursor or Anthropic could add the same support in their own products, which would remove the reason to use a separate tool.
- TechnicalRunning agents in sandboxes on private code is costly and hard to secure. Cloud run costs could exceed seat revenue.
- CommercialSome developers stay on current tools because of subsidized pricing, per the material. A metered tool may look expensive next to them.
- TechnicalThe product sits outside the editor, so the hand-off to Cursor may feel clumsier than native support.
