About this appAI proposal
Lifeboat Vault copies your critical customer data from your main cloud provider into storage at a second provider or one you control, on a schedule you set. If your main account is suspended, you still hold a recent, verified copy of your files and database exports.
It also keeps a lockout runbook: who to contact, which keys to rotate, what to tell customers, and a log of every step. Built for small SaaS teams that run on one provider and cannot afford to lose access to customer data.
It does not replace your cloud host and does not promise a faster appeal. It limits what you lose while you wait and makes the wait less chaotic.

- Why this name
- A lifeboat is what you hope never to use but must have ready. A vault says the data is kept safe and stays yours.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Scheduled cross-cloud copies
Connect read-only access to buckets and database backups. Copies go to a second provider or your own storage on a schedule.

Restore checks
Each copy is verified by sampling files and counting rows, so you learn a backup is broken before you need it.

Lockout runbook
A step-by-step plan for a suspension: contacts, key rotation, status page text and customer emails. Readable offline.

Spend and key alarms
Alerts on sudden billing jumps or unusual key use, with a one-tap checklist to revoke a key.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It is used internally by the team that buys it. Its output, the backups and runbook, is private, so it spreads only through content, founder communities and word of mouth after an incident.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether founders who read lockout stories will pay for prevention before an incident, and what share of trials connect a real data source.
- First customers
- Bootstrapped B2B and consumer SaaS founders with one to ten staff, all on a single cloud provider, who store customer files or user uploads at scale.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Indie Hackers: Publish a practical guide on surviving a cloud suspension, with a free checklist and a link to the waitlist.
- Founder communities: Offer a free vault health check to founders in startup Slack and Discord groups.
- Direct outreach: Message founders who publicly describe lockouts or key leaks and offer setup help.
- First milestone
- Ten paying small SaaS teams, each with a verified restore check passed on a real data source, within 60 days of launch.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedHacker News post received 25 points and 16 comments
- Public claimA bootstrapped SaaS company with $1M annual recurring revenue and 100,000 users depends entirely on Google Cloud infrastructure and lost all access to their backend and customer data due to account suspension.
- Public claimCloud account suspensions cause immediate business interruption: customers cannot access the application, and founders cannot access the console to troubleshoot or migrate.
- AI inferenceCloud providers offer no clear timeline or resolution path for account suspension appeals, requiring founders to pay for support and wait in automated queues.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalCopying large buckets and databases reliably, with egress costs, is hard. Consistent database snapshots differ by engine, so the first version must limit what it supports.
- DataHolding copies of customers' data makes the vault a high-value target. Security failures or weak encryption would end trust quickly.
- CommercialFounders may act only after a lockout, so selling prevention is hard. Egress and second-storage costs could also exceed the subscription at low tiers.
- PlatformProviders may restrict or rate-limit bulk exports, and a suspended account may cut off access to the copy source mid-sync.
- RegulatoryCopying personal data across providers and regions can raise data protection duties for customers, and needs clear processor terms.
