About this appAI proposal
Forkroom gives AI coding agents a full Linux machine to work in: files, processes, network, test runs. Any running sandbox can be forked into copies that keep the same memory and processes, so an agent can try several approaches from the same point and keep the one that works.
It is for teams building agent systems, coding assistants or AI app builders who now run agents on plain cloud instances or basic serverless tools. Those were not designed for fast duplication, snapshots and restoring state. Forkroom is built around exactly those three actions.
A phone-friendly console shows every sandbox, fork tree and snapshot, so you can pause, compare or kill runs from anywhere. Billing is per sandbox-hour, with no reserved servers to manage.

- Why this name
- A fork is the core action and a room is a place to work. Two plain words, easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Fork a live sandbox
Copy a running machine with its memory and processes, then let each copy take a different path. Fork-time is shown on every copy so you can check speed.

Snapshot and restore
Save a workspace at any step and bring it back later or on another run, so an agent run can be replayed from a known state.

Full Linux, not a thin tool set
Agents get a real system: shell, package installs, background processes, network access and test runners, with hardware virtualization for nested workloads.

Fork tree view
See which branch came from which, what each one ran and which passed its checks. Promote a winner or discard the rest in one tap.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor prices, only that bare metal quotes from AWS and Google were judged too costly. These tiers, based on the usage or concurrency models suggested, are a starting point to test.
Try
Free
- Small monthly sandbox-hour allowance
- Up to 3 concurrent sandboxes
- Snapshots, 5 saved
- Forking up to 2 copies
Team
$199 a month
- Larger sandbox-hour quota, then per-hour
- Up to 50 concurrent sandboxes
- Unlimited snapshots
- Spend caps and alerts
Scale
$999 a month
- Reserved capacity
- Hundreds of concurrent forks

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Partners and integrations. Ship SDKs and ready-made adapters for popular agent frameworks and AI app builders, so teams add Forkroom as their sandbox backend. Their agents then show Forkroom in logs and docs.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who add the adapter are the paying customers, so reach equals acquisition. Test whether teams switch from self-run instances after one trial project.
- First customers
- Small teams of 3 to 20 engineers building AI coding agents or AI app builders, who now run agents on EC2 or basic serverless and manage the infrastructure themselves.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and dev forums: Post a technical write-up of fork timing with a public demo and free tier, in the threads where sandbox needs are discussed.
- Agent framework communities: Publish an open adapter and example repos in framework Discords and GitHub, answering setup questions directly.
- Direct outreach: Email founders of AI app builders and coding-agent startups with a free pilot and a migration helper.
- First milestone
- Five teams running agent workloads weekly, with at least two paying for the Team tier within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalForking live memory in about 400 ms (an AI inference from one post) is hard to do reliably. Network connections, clocks and random seeds can behave oddly in copies.
- CommercialOther sandbox providers exist and the material only has a public claim that they lack full Linux. Buyers may find them good enough, and big clouds could add forking.
- TechnicalRunning your own bare-metal hosts means capacity, uptime and upfront cost before revenue. Cost advantage over cloud is an inference, not verified.
- PlatformAgents run untrusted code with network access. Isolation failures, abuse such as crypto mining or spam, and security reviews by buyers can block sales.
- DataSnapshots can hold secrets, source code and customer data. Customers will ask for encryption, retention rules and regional storage.
