ScreensConcept
Desktop app: Code review and PR triage require reading diffs and code context on a large screen; developers sit at desks to make merge decisions and configure rules. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Plainmerge sorts pull requests before a person opens them. It reads the diff, the surrounding code and the agent's conversation, then places each PR in one of three lanes: safe to merge, needs fixes, or needs a human. Each PR gets a short note on what was intended, what was run and what was not checked.
It is for teams where coding agents open many PRs a day per person. Reviewers stop reading every diff line by line. They spend their time on the PRs where judgment matters, and they start from intent and evidence instead of building a mental model from scratch.
Review bots look for bugs. Plainmerge targets the other problem named in the evidence: people merging changes they do not understand, or giving up on review. You set what may merge without a person, and every decision shows its reasons.
- Tagline
- Read less. Merge what is proven. Look hard where it counts.

- Why this name
- Plain says the goal: a PR explained in plain words. Merge says the action. Two ordinary words, easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Three lanes for every PR
Each PR lands in Merge, Fix or Look. The lane comes with reasons, so a reviewer can disagree and move it.

Intent and evidence summary
A short note states what the agent was asked, what changed, which tests ran and which paths no test touched.

Agent transcript reading
Reads the agent's conversation to spot guessed requirements, skipped steps and changes beyond the task.

Your merge rules
Define what may skip human review: paths, size, test results, owners. Anything outside the rules goes to Look.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. Plainmerge posts a lane label and summary on each PR, plus a status check. Everyone who touches the repo sees the brand name and can open the linked rules page.
- Do they become customers?
- Teammates and contributors see it in daily work and may be team leads who can buy. Test how many installs start from a person who only saw a PR comment.
- First customers
- Engineering leads at startups of 5 to 30 developers where each person runs coding agents and opens 20 or more PRs a day on GitHub.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Share a write-up on agent PR triage and an open sample report, since the problem threads there drew heavy discussion.
- Direct outreach: Message leads of agent-heavy teams. Offer a free week of dry-run triage on one repository.
- GitHub Marketplace: List the app so teams searching for review tools find a free tier to install.
- First milestone
- Five teams pay for Team after a dry run, and at least half of their Merge-lane PRs are accepted without changes.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedHacker News post received 45 points and 17 comments
- Public claimTeams using coding agents are producing PRs at very high velocity, with individual team members generating more than 20 pull requests per day
- Public claimThe problem is widespread among teams using coding agents; multiple teams report facing the same binary choice between abandoning code review or struggling to keep up
- Public claimThe sharp increase in agent capability (Opus 4.5 release) has made code review processes that worked previously no longer viable

RisksAI inference
- AIA wrong Merge call ships a bad change. Trust depends on conservative defaults, visible reasons and a dry-run mode before any auto-merge is allowed.
- CommercialCodeRabbit, Greptile, Cursor and GitHub Copilot already sell review. Plainmerge must show that triage and intent notes beat bug-catching alone.
- PlatformGitHub could add native triage or change app permissions and rate limits, removing the gap this product fills.
- DataTeams must share private code and agent transcripts with a third party. Security review may slow sales without strict retention limits.
- TechnicalAgent transcripts come in many formats, and some agents leave none. Triage quality drops without them, so formats must be supported one by one.
