About this appAI proposal
Tallybox pulls messages from your Discord servers, GitHub issues and discussions, and forums into one inbox, then groups them into themes: bugs, requests, praise and confusion. You see what users keep asking for without reading every thread.
It is built for solo developers and small teams who cannot spend hundreds a month on AI. Cheap rules drop chatter first, similar messages are grouped, and only what is left goes to a model, batched. Each message shows what it cost.
Every plan has a monthly spending cap that you set. When it is reached, Tallybox pauses analysis and keeps collecting, so there are no surprise bills.

- Why this name
- Tallybox: a tally is a simple count of what people say, and a box is a small, cheap place to keep it. Two plain words, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One inbox for Discord, GitHub and forums
Connect a server, a repo or a forum feed in minutes. Messages arrive in one timeline with their source and thread.

Filter before the model
Rules drop greetings, bot posts and duplicates first, so you pay to analyze only messages that carry feedback.

Batched, right-sized analysis
Similar messages are grouped and sent together. Simple labels use a small model, and only hard cases go to a larger one.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor price list. It cites $70-840 a month in AI costs for one tool as a public claim. These tiers are a starting point to test against our own per-message cost.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Teams publish a public 'what you asked for' page and share digest links with their community. Each page shows themes and status, and carries a small 'made with Tallybox' link.
- Do they become customers?
- Community members who see the page are mostly users, not builders. Some run their own projects and may sign up. Test how many visits from public pages turn into trials.
- First customers
- Solo developers and teams of 1-5 running an open-source or indie SaaS product with an active Discord server and a GitHub repo.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Show HN: Post a write-up of the cost-cutting method with real per-message numbers, linking to a free tier.
- Indie maker communities: Offer free setup in indie founder Discords and subreddits in exchange for feedback.
- GitHub README badge: Offer a public roadmap page that maintainers link from their repo.
- First milestone
- Ten indie products connect a Discord and a repo, and five pay for a plan within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformDiscord and forum access rules or API limits may restrict reading messages. Server admins must add the bot, which slows setup.
- CommercialEvidence is a single Hacker News post with public claims. Indie developers may refuse to pay even $12 a month for this.
- AIAggressive filtering and small models may miss subtle feedback or mislabel sentiment. Quality needs measuring against hand-labelled samples.
- DataStoring community messages with usernames raises privacy duties. Teams need deletion tools and clear notice to members.
- TechnicalReal-time ingestion from three kinds of source needs queues and retries, which a 25-day first version may only partly cover.
