Desktop app: 3D CAD design requires sustained keyboard work, constraint solving, parameter tuning, and detailed feature timeline management at a computer. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Pinbench is a constraint-based CAD workspace that runs in the browser and installs as an app. You draw a sketch, pin it down with dimensions and constraints, extrude it into a solid and export STL or 3MF for your slicer. It is built for hobbyists and makers who modelled printed parts in Fusion360 and want the same sketch-then-feature way of working.
The workflow stays familiar: a timeline of features you can edit and rerun, named parameters, and sketches that stay solved when you change a number. Projects use open formats you can download at any time, so your designs are never held by the tool. It is deliberately small: it covers the printing workflow, not every engineering discipline.

- Why this name
- A pin fixes a point in a sketch, and a bench is where makers work. Two plain words joined, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Sketch constraints that stay solved
Coincident, parallel, tangent, equal and dimension constraints, with clear colour for under-, fully- and over-constrained sketches.

Feature timeline
Extrude, revolve, fillet, chamfer and hole as editable steps. Change an early step and the later ones rebuild.

Named parameters
Define wall, clearance and screw size once and use them in any dimension. Swap values to fit a new printer.

Print-ready checks
Flags thin walls, steep overhangs and non-manifold geometry before you export.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.

Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users publish view-only model links with parameters to forums, printing communities and friends. Viewers can rotate the part and fork it into their own workspace.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers are makers who may become users, since forking needs an account. Test how many link viewers fork a design and how many later pay for sync.
- First customers
- Hobbyist 3D printer owners who modelled functional parts such as brackets and enclosures in Fusion360 and now look for open alternatives.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Reddit: Post a Show HN and share parametric part examples in 3D printing communities.
- Open-source CAD forums: Join discussions on switching from Fusion360 and publish forkable example parts.
- Maker YouTube: Offer free access to a few small creators who make printing tutorials.
- First milestone
- Fifty weekly active makers and ten paying for sync within 90 days of launch, mostly from forked shared models.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimUsers want constraint-based CAD tools similar to Fusion360 for 3D printing that are lightweight and open-source
- VerifiedGitHub repository gained 650 stars in 48 days
- Public claimThe project implements parametric 3D CAD with a real B-rep kernel using OpenCASCADE, indicating production-grade geometric capabilities.
- AI inferenceStrong early adoption signal with 650 stars and 40 forks in 48 days suggests significant market demand for this type of tool.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalRobust fillets, chamfers and rebuilding after early edits are hard; failures on real parts will lose users quickly. Run kernel work in a worker to keep the UI responsive.
- CommercialFree open-source tools already exist, such as Dune3D and FreeCAD. Users may not pay for a browser tool, so willingness to pay for sync and sharing is unproven.
- PlatformLarge WASM downloads and memory limits on phones and low-end laptops may make complex models slow.
- Intellectual propertyImporting Fusion360 files may be limited by closed formats; only open formats like STEP can be promised.
- DataUsers will want to keep their designs. If export is not complete, trust in the open-format promise is lost.
