About this appAI proposal
Outpost Desk is a control plane for software vendors whose customers run the product on their own servers, in their own cloud account, or on-premises. Publish a release once; each customer environment pulls it, reports back and appears in one fleet view.
It covers Docker Compose, Docker Swarm and Kubernetes Helm installs with the same release flow. Each customer gets a license, health status, version history and alert rules, so support can see what is running without asking for screenshots.
It is for small vendor teams who hand out install guides and track customers in spreadsheets. The agent in the customer's environment makes outbound connections only, which keeps security reviews simpler.

- Why this name
- An outpost is a remote site you still look after; the desk is where you watch all of them from.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One release, three runtimes
Publish a version once and deliver it as Compose, Swarm or Helm packages to each customer environment.

What it could be worthEstimate

Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. The agent and the customer-facing update and support-bundle pages run inside each customer's environment, where their admins see a small 'Delivered with Outpost Desk' mark and status page.
- Do they become customers?
- Customer admins mostly work for companies that buy software, not ship it. Some may be vendors themselves. Test how many click through and start their own account.
- First customers
- Seed to Series A B2B software vendors with 5 to 50 customers who self-host, using Docker Compose or Helm, with no dedicated release tooling.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source communities: Post install-guide and licensing write-ups in self-hosting and DevOps forums and on GitHub, where these vendors already talk.
- Founder outreach: Contact founders of self-hosted products directly and offer a free migration of their first three customers.
- First milestone
- Five vendors each running at least three live customer installs, with two paying for the Team tier.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalApplying updates safely across Compose, Swarm and Helm in unknown customer environments is hard; failed rollbacks would damage vendor trust quickly.
- CommercialThe material shows interest only through GitHub stars. Vendors may build in-house or prefer an open-source core, so willingness to pay is unproven.
- RegulatoryCustomers in regulated or air-gapped settings may refuse any vendor-controlled agent or telemetry, limiting reach.
- DataTelemetry and support bundles may contain customer data; redaction and clear consent are needed to avoid leaks.
- PlatformContainer and Kubernetes tooling changes often, so the agent needs continual compatibility testing.
