About this appAI proposal
Nudge Desk is a student support assistant for college and university staff. Students ask questions by chat at any hour: deadlines, aid forms, registration holds, course changes. The assistant answers from the institution's own pages and policies, and hands off to a named staff member when unsure.
Every conversation feeds a simple student record. Student success and enrollment teams see who went quiet, who asked about leaving, and which prospects stalled before applying, in one list instead of several disconnected tools.
It is built for small and mid-size teams that cannot staff a help line around the clock. Answers show their source, staff approve what the assistant may say, and nothing is sent to a student without a rule the team set.

- Why this name
- A nudge is the small push that keeps a student enrolled; the desk is where help is found. Two plain words, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Answers from your own policies
Point it at your catalog, aid pages and FAQs. Each reply cites the page it came from, so staff can check and fix it.

Warm handoff to staff
When a question is sensitive or unclear, the chat goes to the right person with the full thread, so students never repeat themselves.

One record for prospects and students
Recruitment inquiries and enrolled-student chats share one timeline, so follow-up does not depend on which tool someone opened.

Quiet-student alerts
Set rules such as no reply in 14 days or a mention of withdrawing. Advisors get a short daily list to act on.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. The chat widget runs on the school's website and portal, where students and prospects see a small 'Powered by Nudge Desk' mark. Staff at other offices see it when they use it.
- Do they become customers?
- Students cannot buy it; the buyers are staff. Exposure may reach staff at other institutions only slowly. Test whether one office's pilot leads a second office or a peer school to ask for it.
- First customers
- Student success or enrollment teams at small private colleges and community colleges, with under 5,000 students and no round-the-clock advising.
- Where to reach them
- Direct outreach to directors: Email and call student success and enrollment directors with an offer of a free one-semester pilot for one office.
- Higher-ed conferences and groups: Join regional advising and enrollment management associations; share pilot results and a short demo.
- Content on retention: Publish practical guides on early-alert rules and after-hours student questions, with a pilot signup.
- First milestone
- Three institutions run a pilot and at least two agree to a paid plan within one semester.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialAn established competitor already sells a combined student success and recruitment platform. Sales to institutions are slow and need proof beyond a chat tool.
- AIThe assistant may give a wrong answer on aid, deadlines or policy. Citations, approved sources and handoff rules are needed, and errors must be reviewable.
- RegulatoryStudent records may fall under education privacy rules such as FERPA. Contracts, data handling and retention terms must be settled before real student data.
- TechnicalInstitutions run student information systems and CRMs. Without integrations, staff may see this as one more disconnected tool.
- DataEvidence of demand is thin: one repository's star growth and public claims. Real willingness to pay is unverified.
