About this appAI proposal
Tallyfuse sits between your editor or coding agent and the model provider. You bring your own API key, point your tool at Tallyfuse, and every request is counted in tokens and dollars as it happens. You set a daily, weekly or monthly cap, and the fuse trips before you pass it.
It is for developers who use AI coding assistants heavily and want a bill they can predict. Instead of a flat plan that runs out with no explanation, you see which sessions, models and retries used the budget.
You pay the provider's rate for what you use, shown per token. Tallyfuse charges a small flat fee for the metering and the limits, so the real cost of your work stays visible.

- Why this name
- Tally is the running count of tokens and dollars; a fuse is the part that trips at a safe limit. Together they name the two jobs: measure and protect.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Live spend meter
Tokens in, tokens out and dollars update as each request streams, per session, per project and per model.

Hard and soft caps
Set daily, weekly or monthly limits. Get an alert at a threshold you choose and a hard stop at the cap, with a one-tap override.

Retry and waste detection
Flags repeated prompts, restarted sessions and re-sent context so you can see tokens spent on rework.

Model comparison
Compare cost per task across models and versions, so a change in burn rate after an upgrade shows up in your own data.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no price for this product. Competitor prices are public claims: about $200/month for Kiro and for OpenAI Codex Pro. Model usage is billed by the provider on your own key. These tiers are a starting point to test.

$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A team lead creates a pooled budget and invites developers. Each invitee points their tool at Tallyfuse to join, and sees their own meter and share of the budget.
- Do they become customers?
- Invitees are developers who can start a free account and later buy Solo. Test how many invited developers connect a key and how many open their own paid plan.
- First customers
- Freelance and small-team developers who pay for AI coding on their own key or card and have been surprised by a bill or an early quota run-out.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and GitHub issues: Join threads about usage depletion and surprise bills; share a free meter and a short guide to setting caps.
- Developer newsletters: Offer a sponsored write-up with a worked example of cost per task across models.
- Open-source editor plugin: Publish a small config snippet for popular tools that links back to Tallyfuse.
- First milestone
- Fifty free signups who connect a key, and ten of them paying for Solo within eight weeks.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalA proxy adds delay and a failure point in the middle of the coding loop. If it goes down, the developer's tool stops, so uptime and a safe bypass option are essential.
- PlatformSome assistants only work with their own bundled models and cannot be pointed at a custom endpoint, which limits which developers Tallyfuse can serve.
- CommercialProviders or editors may add their own usage dashboards and caps, and developers on flat plans may not feel pain enough to pay for a meter.
- DataRequests pass through the service and carry source code. Customers will want clear rules: no prompt storage by default, only token counts and metadata.
- TechnicalToken counts and prices must match provider bills. Mismatches, especially with cached or reasoning tokens, would damage trust in the numbers.
