Desktop and mobile: Developers write and refactor code at a desk but review diffs and request fixes on the go; the app fails users without both contexts. Sample screens on a computer and a phone, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Tether Code is an AI-assisted code editor that runs as a web app on your laptop, tablet and phone. Your repos, chats and settings follow you. Start a change at your desk, review the diff on the train, and ask for a fix from your phone.
One account covers several model providers. Switch between them per task without separate subscriptions or API keys. Each plan has a monthly token allowance and a spending cap you set, so a long agent run cannot produce a surprise bill.
It is built for individual developers who code often and watch their budget. Every request shows its token cost before and after it runs, and cheaper models are suggested for simple edits.

- Why this name
- A tether keeps one line between you and your work across devices, and holds a limit. Tether Code is short and easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One account, many models
Switch between LLM providers from a single picker. No separate sign-ups, keys or invoices for each provider.

Same session on every device
Open the same workspace on desktop, browser or phone. Files, chat history and pending changes stay in sync.

Hard spending cap
Set a monthly limit in dollars or tokens. Runs stop at the cap, and overage is opt-in only.

PricingAI proposal
Verified: Cursor lists paid plans from $20 to $40 a month plus a free plan. Tiers sit near that range as a starting point to test; the material gives no token costs or margins.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reached through developer communities, content and a free tier. Shared diff or session links are possible later, but the first version relies on direct sales and word of mouth.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether free-tier users upgrade once they hit the allowance, and whether cost caps and phone access are reasons to switch from their current editor.
- First customers
- Solo developers, freelancers and hobbyists who already pay for one AI coding tool and have said token costs or lack of mobile access bother them.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Show HN with the cost-cap angle, then reply in threads about token costs and multi-device coding.
- Developer subreddits: Share honest cost comparisons and offer free trials to people asking about cheaper AI editors.
- Dev newsletters: Offer a sponsored slot or guest post on budget AI coding workflows.
- First milestone
- Twenty paying solo developers on a $15 plan within 60 days, with fewer than a quarter hitting the cap early.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimDevelopers value model switching flexibility without multiple accounts
- Public claimMulti-device access is a desired but missing feature
- Public claimCloud-based solutions exist but pricing is a barrier
- Public claimToken consumption and costs are a pain point for existing solutions

RisksAI inference
- CommercialToken costs may leave thin margins at $15 to $35 a month. Heavy users could cost more than they pay, so caps and allowances need tuning with real usage.
- PlatformProvider terms, rate limits or price changes could break the bundled-model approach or raise costs. Reselling access may be restricted.
- TechnicalEditing code well on a phone browser is hard. Sync conflicts and sandbox costs for cloud checkouts could slow the first version.
- CommercialEstablished editors may add mobile access or cost caps. Users who like their desktop editor may not switch.
- DataDevelopers may not trust a new service with private source code. Needs clear retention and privacy terms.
