About this appAI proposal
Callfence is a cost guard for developers who build with paid APIs. Describe or import a call chain, such as a search call that triggers a detail call for every result, and it shows a cost range before you run anything. Then route your calls through it and watch actual spend per call as it happens.
Set a hard cap per project, per day or per key. When spend nears the cap you get an alert, and at the cap Callfence can pause calls instead of letting a loop run up a bill. It is made for solo developers and small teams who cannot absorb a surprise invoice.
Provider billing dashboards report late, and AI assistants often price only the first call in a chain. Callfence counts every call in the chain and shows spend as it happens, so a mistake costs minutes, not days.

- Why this name
- A fence keeps things inside a boundary. Call plus fence says the product limits what your API calls can spend. Two plain, easy-to-say words.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Chain cost simulator
Model a call chain with fan-out, such as one search leading to many detail lookups. Get a low, expected and high cost before you run the script.
No member yet
Paste code, get a draft chain
Paste a script or an AI assistant's output and get a draft call chain to correct. It flags downstream calls the assistant left out of its estimate.
No member yet
Live per-call ledger
Calls routed through the Callfence proxy appear within seconds, with endpoint, count and cost. No waiting a day or two for the provider bill.
No member yet
Hard spend caps
Set caps per project, key or day. At the cap, Callfence blocks further calls and returns a clear error, so a runaway loop stops.

PricingAI proposal
The only verified price is AWS Cost Explorer: a free plan plus a paid plan at $0.01 by usage. The tiers here are a starting point to test, not set from competitor prices. The material gives no other prices.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It reaches customers through content and developer communities. The product runs inside private developer workflows and is not seen by others, and shared simulator links are only an optional extra.
- Do they become customers?
- People who see it are mostly developers with the same problem, so they can become paying customers. Test whether a free simulator page turns visitors into proxy users and then into paid plans.
- First customers
- Solo developers and teams of two to five at early-stage startups who build on one paid maps or AI API and have already had, or fear, a surprise bill.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Reddit threads: Join existing threads on API cost overruns, share a free chain simulator and write up real examples of missed cascading calls.
- Developer blog posts: Publish worked cost breakdowns of common call chains with a link to simulate your own.
- AI coding communities: Offer a paste-your-script check that audits an assistant's cost estimate.
- First milestone
- Fifty developers route live calls through the free tier, and ten of them pay for Solo or Team within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- AI inferenceDevelopers are cost-conscious and make purchasing decisions based on minimizing expenses
- Public claimAI code assistants provide incomplete cost estimates, missing cascading API calls and their costs
- Public claimBilling dashboards lag significantly and show inaccurate totals, delaying discovery of cost overruns
- Public claimUnexpected API costs can be financially devastating for individuals on tight budgets
- Public claimCost overruns on Google Cloud APIs happen frequently enough to generate community discussion and support escalations

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalHard caps need calls to pass through a proxy. Added latency, outages or a leaked key could break customers' apps, so the proxy must be very reliable.
- DataProvider prices change and have many tiers, free quotas and discounts. A stale catalog gives wrong estimates and hurts trust. Start with two or three providers.
- CommercialDevelopers are cost-conscious and may not pay for a tool that saves them money. Providers may also add their own real-time budgets and alerts.
- AIDrafting a call chain from pasted code can miss branches or loops. Estimates must show ranges and let users correct the chain.
- PlatformSome provider terms may restrict proxying keys or calls. Terms and key handling need a check for each supported API.
