About this appAI proposal
Pocketbox gives AI agents a small, isolated place to run code. Create a sandbox with one API call, run commands in it, and let it sleep when idle so you stop paying for time when nothing happens.
It is for developers shipping messaging agents and personal agent tools who want a free plan without a hyperscaler bill. Sandboxes are sized and pooled for agent patterns: long idle stretches and short bursts of work.
Every sandbox shows its own running cost, so you can see what one free user costs you before you set a limit. Paid tiers add always-on sandboxes and full VMs with Docker.

- Why this name
- A pocket is small, cheap and holds things safely. Box says sandbox. Two plain words that are easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One-call sandboxes
Create, run commands, read files and delete a sandbox through a simple HTTP API. No cloud account setup, networking or images to manage.
No member yet
Sleep when idle
Sandboxes pause after a quiet period and wake on the next request with files intact, so idle agents cost close to nothing.

Cost per sandbox
See the monthly cost of every sandbox and end user, so you can price your own free plan with real numbers.

Per-user limits
Set CPU, memory, disk and runtime caps per end user, so one runaway agent cannot eat your budget.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor prices. It mentions customers spending about $0.37 per sandbox per month, and free hosting at $0.05 to $0.10 per user (public claims). Tiers are a starting point to test.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Partners and integrations. Publish SDKs and templates for popular agent frameworks and messaging-bot starters, so a developer can add Pocketbox as the sandbox backend in a few lines.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who adopt it are the paying customers, so reach converts directly. Test whether free-plan builders move to Builder once their own users grow.
- First customers
- Solo developers and small teams building messaging agents or personal agent tools who offer a free plan to their own users.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Post a Show HN with a public cost-per-sandbox breakdown and a free tier anyone can try.
- Agent framework communities: Offer starter templates and answer sandbox cost questions in open-source agent project forums.
- First milestone
- Ten teams running agents on the free tier, and three paying for Builder within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalRunning untrusted agent code safely on cheap shared hardware is hard. One escape or noisy neighbour could end trust in the service.
- CommercialHyperscalers or larger sandbox startups may cut prices. The cost edge may be small once support and reliability costs are counted.
- CommercialFree users may never convert, and the free-tier cost figures of $0.05 to $0.10 per user are public claims, not tested here.
- RegulatoryAbuse such as spam, scraping or crypto mining from free sandboxes needs controls, and complaints or takedown requests need a process.
- PlatformThe service depends on bare-metal or cloud hosts whose terms, prices and capacity can change.
