ScreensConcept
Mobile app: Users control smart devices at home by chat and schedules—lightweight interaction on phones as people move through their homes, not extended desk work. Sample screens on a phone, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Localhand brings orphaned smart devices back to life. When a maker closes its app or cloud, the hardware often still sits on your Wi-Fi, working. Localhand finds it on your home network, works out how to talk to it, and lets you control it from one simple app or a chat message.
A small helper runs at home and keeps everything local, so nothing depends on the manufacturer's servers. An AI assistant proposes how each device speaks, tests it with your approval, and saves a working profile. You do not need to read protocol docs or write code.
It differs from hobbyist hub tools because setup is guided and conversational, and from manufacturer apps because it does not vanish when a company moves on.

- Why this name
- A 'local hand' is a helper close by. It names control that stays at home, with no cloud, and it is easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Find devices on your network
Scans your home network and lists what is there, including switches and plugs whose original app no longer works.

AI protocol discovery
The assistant probes a device, proposes how it communicates, and tests safe commands one at a time until control works.

You approve every test
Before any command is sent, you see what it will do. Risky actions such as firmware writes are never tried.

Control by chat
Say 'turn off the hall switch' in the app or in Discord. Plain sentences become device commands.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Working device profiles can be shared as a public model page, such as 'Restore a WeMo-style switch'. Owners of the same model find it by search and see Localhand as the way to apply it.
- Do they become customers?
- Visitors with the same dead device are real buyers, since they have the problem now. Test whether model pages rank in search and convert to a free scan.
- First customers
- Tech-comfortable owners of one discontinued smart switch or plug family, with several devices at home, who use Discord and do not want to reverse-engineer protocols.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Reddit: Post a walkthrough reviving one discontinued switch, in forums for smart home owners and self-hosters.
- Search content: Write a guide per discontinued device model on getting control back without the manufacturer app.
- Discord communities: Offer the chat bot in home automation servers and invite members to try it on one device.
- First milestone
- Ten owners of one device family get a device working and five pay for the Home tier within 60 days.

- AI inferenceSmart devices become unusable when manufacturer apps are discontinued, even though the hardware remains connected to the network.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalDevices use many protocols, some encrypted or tied to the dead cloud. The AI may fail on many models, so early support must be narrowed to a few device families.
- CommercialThe only market evidence is one Hacker News post (13 points, 2 comments). Demand and willingness to pay among ordinary consumers are unproven.
- AIAn AI sending trial commands could misbehave a device or brick it. Needs approval steps, a safe-command list and no firmware writes.
- PlatformUsers must run a home helper, which is friction for non-technical people. Open-source hubs may offer similar control free.
- RegulatoryProbing devices and reverse engineering protocols may breach some manufacturer terms or local laws. Needs legal review before launch.
