About this appAI proposal
Lifeboat Keep backs up the apps you host yourself, such as photo libraries, personal clouds and home server tools, and restores them when a disk dies or an upgrade goes wrong. You pick an app, choose where copies go, and it handles the rest.
Before every upgrade it snapshots the files and the database together. If the new version breaks, one tap rolls back to the state you had a minute earlier. No long procedures, no pages of warnings.
It also tests your backups. On a schedule it restores them into a throwaway sandbox and tells you whether they work. You learn about a bad backup today, not on the day you need it.

- Why this name
- A lifeboat is what you hope never to use and are glad to have. Keep suggests holding your data safe.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Upgrade safety snapshot
Takes a consistent snapshot of files and database before each upgrade. If the upgrade fails, roll back with one tap.

Automatic restore tests
Restores your latest backup into a sandbox on a schedule and reports whether the app starts and the data is readable.

Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It reaches customers through content, community posts and app guides. Backups run privately on users' own servers, so there is no natural sharing or visible output.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether self-hosters who read upgrade-safety guides sign up and pay after a free trial on one app.
- First customers
- Hobbyist operators running a self-hosted photo library on a home server, who still keep a SaaS copy as a safety net.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Offer free upgrade-safety help and profiles in forums and discussion threads where users ask about restores.
- Guides and tutorials: Publish step-by-step upgrade and restore guides for one photo app, linking to a free tier.
- First milestone
- Ten paying users of one photo app, with at least half having cancelled a SaaS backup.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimUsers would pay for reliable disaster recovery and be willing to ditch comparable SaaS
- Public claimUsers avoid upgrading self-hosted software due to lack of confidence in restore procedures
- Public claimExisting backup and restore documentation for self-hosted apps is complex and intimidating

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalConsistent snapshots of files plus database differ per app and change with each release, so app profiles need ongoing upkeep and testing.
- DataLosing or corrupting customer backups, or users losing their encryption key, would destroy trust and could make restores impossible.
- CommercialEvidence is public claims only. Users may prefer free tools they already have, and willingness to pay is unproven.
- PlatformSelf-hosted apps may change storage layouts or ship their own backup features, which could make profiles obsolete.
- TechnicalA PWA cannot run on the host. Users must install an agent, which adds friction and a support burden across varied setups.
