Desktop app: macOS users adjust display settings, manage scaling and create presets for their monitor setup—work tied to a desk where external displays are connected. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Deskpane gathers the display controls macOS hides into one menu bar helper and a web dashboard. Set sharper HiDPI scaling, change brightness and volume on external monitors over DDC, push brightness past 100% where the panel allows, and save the result as a preset.
It is for Mac users with external or high-resolution displays, and for people running several monitors who want fine-grained control without opening System Settings each time they dock or undock.
Presets live in an installable web app, so you can edit, back up and share monitor setups from any browser. A small native helper does the hardware work. This is a proposal; none of it is built yet.

- Why this name
- A desk and a pane of glass: the product sits between you and your screens. Two plain words joined, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Sharp HiDPI scaling
Pick a scaled resolution per monitor and get crisp text instead of the blurry or tiny result macOS gives on some external displays.

DDC brightness and volume
Change brightness, contrast and speaker volume on external monitors with sliders or keyboard shortcuts, as on the built-in screen.
No member yet
Extra brightness
Go beyond 100% on displays that support it, with a visible warning and a one-tap return to normal.

Presets per setup
Save scaling, brightness and arrangement as named presets such as Desk, Presenting or Night, and switch in one click.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users share a preset link for a specific monitor model, such as a tuned scaling and brightness setup. Others open it in the web app and import it to their own Mac.
- Do they become customers?
- People opening a link must own a Mac and the same monitor, so many will only see it. Test whether imports of shared presets turn into installs and paid upgrades.
- First customers
- Developers and designers on Mac laptops who dock to one or two 4K external monitors at a desk and are unhappy with blurry text or missing brightness control.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub issues and discussions: Answer HiDPI and brightness threads on related open-source display projects, and link a free tier where it helps.
- Reddit and Mac forums: Post monitor-specific scaling guides, with presets users can import.
- Short demo videos: Show before and after text sharpness on common monitors.
- First milestone
- Fifty free installs with preset imports, and ten paid Pro purchases from Mac users with external 4K monitors.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedGitHub repository gained 2013 stars in 78 days
- Public claimPaid alternatives exist and users currently pay for display control software on macOS
- Public claimUsers need features that macOS does not provide natively, including HiDPI scaling, brightness control, and display management
- Public claimHiDPI scaling in macOS can produce blurry or tiny text, indicating a user pain point

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalA PWA cannot control hardware. The product depends on a native helper, which raises build effort and splits the 'web app' promise.
- TechnicalDDC support varies by monitor, cable and dock, and virtual displays rely on system behaviour that can change between macOS releases.
- CommercialThe material says a free alternative called Crisp exists and paid tools already serve this market, so willingness to pay for a new entrant is untested.
- PlatformApple may restrict the APIs used for scaling or virtual displays, and outside-App-Store distribution needs notarization.
- Intellectual propertyName needs a trademark check before use.
