About this appAI proposal
Dovecote gives each AI agent its own email address. Your code creates an inbox with one API call, or through MCP, with no OAuth step and no human account to borrow. The agent sends, replies and receives like any correspondent, on a shared domain or your own.
Inbound mail arrives as clean JSON: the new text without quoted replies, attachments stored, threads kept in order. Signed webhooks tell your agent when something lands. You can hold outgoing messages for a human to approve before they leave.
It is for developers building agents that hold real conversations, such as procurement or support. Billing follows messages and storage, not seats. Per-inbox send caps and recipient allowlists keep a misbehaving agent from mailing people it should not.

- Why this name
- A dovecote is where message-carrying birds live. Each agent gets its own home, and you control who goes in and out.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Create inboxes by API
Create and delete inboxes in one call. No OAuth per inbox and no human mailbox to delegate.

Custom domain setup
Guided SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, with a check that shows which record is still missing.

Correct threading
Send and reply with proper threading headers so conversations stay together in the recipient's mail client.

Inbound mail as JSON
Cleaned body, quoted reply removed, attachments stored. The agent never touches raw MIME.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor prices, only that per-seat pricing suits agents poorly. These tiers and amounts are a starting point to test, with usage-based overage.

Worth about
$190,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Partners and integrations. The MCP server and SDK sit in agent framework docs and directories. Developers who add Dovecote to an agent template pass it on to everyone who copies that template.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who find it through frameworks are the paying buyers, so exposure is acquisition. Test whether template users convert from the free tier to a custom domain.
- First customers
- Solo developers and small startups building one procurement or support agent that must hold email conversations with outside people.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and GitHub: Show an open example agent with an inbox, an approval step and a sample thread, plus a clear comparison to Gmail limits.
- Agent framework communities: Publish the MCP server and a starter template in framework forums and directories.
- First milestone
- Ten developers on paid custom-domain plans, each with an agent holding live conversations for 30 days.

- Public claimDevelopers building AI agents encounter limitations when trying to use Gmail for agent email infrastructure.
- AI inferenceEmail is an effective interface for autonomous AI agents due to its multithreaded, asynchronous nature with support for rich media and built-in identity and authentication.
- Public claimDevelopers, startups, and enterprises are already deploying email agents in production with this solution.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalDeliverability: new domains and shared sending addresses can land in spam, and one abusive agent can harm the reputation of others.
- CommercialThe material names AgentMail with 500+ B2B customers (a public claim), so a newer entrant must win on a narrower promise like approval and policy controls.
- RegulatoryAgents sending unsolicited mail raise anti-spam law and abuse-handling duties that the service must enforce through terms and limits.
- PlatformLarge mailbox providers may tighten rules on automated senders, and cloud hosts often block outbound SMTP ports.
- AIAgents may leak private data or send wrong messages, and the service could be blamed. Approval rules reduce but do not remove this.
