About this appAI proposal
Formwright lets a SaaS team add a form builder to its own product. Product managers design surveys, quizzes and questionnaires by drag and drop. Developers get a plain JSON schema and a small embed that works in React, Angular, Vue or plain JavaScript.
Your backend stores the answers and your hosting runs the builder. There is no vendor cloud in the middle. Branding, styling and wording are yours, so customers see your product and not ours.
It is meant for teams who find hosted form tools too closed and a bare form library too slow to customise. Conditional logic, validation and review of changes come built in, so engineers do not spend weeks rebuilding them.

- Why this name
- A wright is a maker of things, as in wheelwright. Formwright suggests careful craft of forms, handed to the teams who own the result.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Drag-and-drop designer
Product managers assemble forms from fields, pages and blocks, with a live preview, and no developer ticket for each change.

Portable JSON schema
Every form is a versioned JSON file you can store in your own database, diff in git and move between environments.

Works in any framework
Embed through React, Angular and Vue wrappers or a plain script tag. The same schema renders the same everywhere.

Conditional logic and validation
Show, hide or require fields based on earlier answers. Rules are visual for PMs and readable in the schema for devs.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. The builder and forms run inside customers' products. On the free tier a small 'Made with Formwright' mark shows on forms their end users fill in, linking to the site. Paid tiers remove it.
- Do they become customers?
- Form fillers are mostly end users, not buyers. Developers at other SaaS firms may notice the mark, but this needs testing: measure how many mark clicks become free sign-ups.
- First customers
- Small B2B SaaS companies of 10 to 50 people with a React front end whose product teams keep asking engineers for onboarding surveys and feedback forms.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and developer forums: Publish an open example repo and tutorials on embedding a PM-designed form in a React app, aimed at SurveyJS users.
- Founder and product communities: Post short demos in SaaS founder and product manager groups showing a form changed without a deploy.
- Direct outreach: Contact engineering leads at small SaaS firms and offer a free setup call to embed the first form.
- First milestone
- Ten teams embed a form in production and three pay for the Team tier within 60 days of launch.

- Public claimForm builder solutions exist that are embeddable, framework-agnostic, and self-hosted rather than vendor-locked.
- AI inferenceThere is demonstrated demand for form builders with low-code interfaces that support conditional logic and dynamic forms.
- AI inferenceThe form builder market has active community engagement and development.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialSurveyJS is open source, embeddable, JSON-based and self-hosted already. Formwright must win on PM-friendly design and ease of setup, or buyers will not switch.
- CommercialDevelopers often prefer free open-source tools. Willingness to pay for a licence or subscription is unproven and needs testing.
- TechnicalOne renderer across React, Angular, Vue and plain JS with host-page CSS clashes is hard to keep stable and accessible.
- TechnicalA self-hosted version complicates upgrades, schema migrations and support compared with a single cloud service.
- Intellectual propertyForm builder concepts are widely used. Name and schema format need a trademark check and a review of licences for any bundled open-source parts.
