About this appAI proposal
Modelgap is a ledger for enterprise AI coding licenses. It records which models your IDE extensions and CLIs promise, which ones your developers can actually call, and how many days each gap has been open, per tool and per sign-in method.
It is built for engineering leads and procurement owners who bought an enterprise tier on the promise of the latest models and later found some unavailable, with no roadmap. Small checks run on your own developers' machines and log the result, so you hold dated evidence instead of anecdotes.
Modelgap does not sell model access. It gives you a gap report to send to a vendor, attach to a renewal decision, or use to move work to a tool that has the model today.

- Why this name
- Model plus gap: the thing it measures, the distance between a promised AI model and one your developers can call. Two plain syllable groups, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Availability matrix
A grid of models against your licensed tools and sign-in methods, showing available, partial, blocked or unknown, each with the date last checked.

Gap clock
Counts days from a model's public release to the day each of your tools first gets it. Open gaps stay visible until they close.

Promise register
Save the wording of what a vendor committed to, with source link and date, next to the measured result for that tool.

Probe command
A small CLI check that tries a model with your team's real sign-in and reports success or the exact error. No source code is sent.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.

Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Leads send the renewal brief or a public gap page link to vendors, procurement and other teams. Each carries a small Modelgap mark and shows the dated evidence.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients like vendor staff and procurement may be buyers or only readers. Test whether engineering leads at other companies who see a brief sign up for their own tracking.
- First customers
- Engineering leads at companies with 50 to 500 developers who hold an enterprise AI coding license and have an open model-access complaint with the vendor.
- Where to reach them
- Vendor issue trackers: Reply helpfully on public issues about missing models, offering a free gap report for the thread's reporters.
- Engineering lead communities: Post a dated gap analysis of one tool in forums and newsletters read by platform and tooling leads.
- First milestone
- Five teams run the probe for 30 days and two pay for Team before any other tool adapter is built.

- AI inferenceEnterprise customers paid for Gemini Code Assist Enterprise licenses based on Google's explicit commitment to provide access to latest models.
- Public claimGemini 3.5 Flash has been available for 76 days but remains inaccessible or unreliable for enterprise CLI users, while Gemini 3.6 Flash is immediately available in Antigravity but withheld from enterprise CLI.
- Public claimMultiple customers report the same problem across different issues, indicating a widespread gap rather than an isolated case.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalProbing vendor tools needs each tool's sign-in flow and model list, which change often. Each supported tool needs its own adapter and upkeep.
- PlatformVendors may change terms or rate limits that restrict automated test calls, or block the probe on managed accounts.
- CommercialThe evidence centers on one vendor's CLI. Buyers may complain publicly but not pay for tracking; demand across several tools is unproven.
- DataPublic release dates must be entered or sourced reliably. Wrong dates would make gap reports unfair and harm trust with buyers.
- RegulatoryRunning checks with employees' enterprise credentials may breach company policy or vendor terms, so security review could slow sales.
