About this appAI proposal
Evenbook keeps track of who paid for what in a group, such as a trip, a flat or a family holiday. Someone creates a group and shares a link. Everyone else joins from the link, with no account, and adds expenses from their phone.
The app shows each person's balance and a short list of payments that settles the group. Split a cost equally, by shares or by exact amounts. Mark a payment as made and the balances update. Everyone in the group can see the full history.
Evenbook is open source and can run on your own server in one container, so a group's money records stay where you choose. Core features are free with no cap on expenses, and you can export everything to CSV at any time.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. Each group needs every member to join through a shared link. Members see Evenbook while using it, and some start their own group for the next trip or household.
- Do they become customers?
- Invited members can become group creators, but may stay free users. Test how many members start a second group and how many take the Supporter tier.
- First customers
- Friend groups planning one shared trip, and privacy-minded people who already run their own home servers and want to host their group's records themselves.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Post the open-source repository and the one-container guide where people share self-hosted apps.
- Travel planning forums: Offer a free group link for trip organisers and ask for feedback after the trip settles.
- First milestone
- Fifty groups complete a settle-up on the hosted instance, and ten users pay for Supporter within three months.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialSplitwise and Tricount already serve this need, and Tricount states over 20 million users. Free users may never pay, so the Supporter tier may bring little revenue.
- CommercialThe evidence shows interest in open-source alternatives, but it comes from GitHub stars. It does not show that groups will switch or pay.
- TechnicalJoining without an account means anyone with the link can edit the group. Link security and abuse handling need careful design.
- DataGroups store money records of real people. Hosted data needs clear retention and deletion rules, and may fall under privacy law.
