About this appAI proposal
Hoardmap shows what is filling your Mac as an interactive sunburst. Pick a folder or load a scan from the small open-source scanner, and the biggest folders appear as rings you can click into. Everything is drawn and kept on your device.
It is for Mac users who want a quick answer to 'where did my 200 GB go?' without paying for a one-off tool or reading a table of folder sizes. Developer caches, old simulators, mail attachments and cloud-sync leftovers are labelled so you know what is safe to review.
The scanner is open source, so you can read what it touches. The viewer is a web app you install from the browser. The core is free. A one-time Pro unlock adds exports, saved comparisons and rules.

- Why this name
- A hoard is a pile that grew without anyone noticing. The name says what the app finds, and it is short, plain and easy to say.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Sunburst you can steer
Click a ring to zoom in, click the centre to go back. Colours follow file kind, so large video, caches and archives stand out at once.

Fast open-source scanner
A small command-line scanner reads the drive and writes a compact file the app opens. Its code is public, so you can check what it reads.

Folder picker, no install
In browsers that allow it, pick a folder and scan it in the app with nothing else to install. Safari users load a scanner file instead.

Plain labels for common space hogs
Flags developer caches, old simulator images, mail downloads, backups and cloud-sync leftovers, with a note on what removing each means.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users export a read-only snapshot link or image of their sunburst and a cleanup report to share with a teammate, family member or in a forum thread asking for help. The page carries the Hoardmap name.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers of a snapshot are often Mac users with the same problem, so some may install it. Test how many snapshot opens lead to a scan within a week. Snapshots hold only sizes and names the sender chooses to share.
- First customers
- Mac-using developers and designers with 256 to 512 GB laptops, who hit full-disk warnings from Xcode, Docker and media files.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and Hacker News: Release the scanner openly with a demo sunburst; the open-source disk-analyzer audience already stars such projects.
- Developer subreddits: Answer 'Mac storage full' threads with a shareable snapshot and a short how-to.
- Short screen-capture clips: Post a 30-second video of a full scan turning into a cleanup list.
- First milestone
- 500 scans run and 25 people buying the one-time Pro unlock within 60 days of launch.

- This app · Native scannerOpen-source command-line scanner in Rust or SwiftA browser cannot scan a whole APFS drive in seconds; a native tool writes a compact file the app opens.
- This app · ChartsCanvas-based sunburst rendererDrawing hundreds of thousands of nodes needs canvas or WebGL rather than DOM or SVG.
RisksAI inference
- PlatformBrowsers limit folder access. Safari lacks the folder picker, and macOS privacy rules can block protected folders, so most users may depend on the separate scanner.
- TechnicalMatching 'seconds for a full drive' depends on the native scanner, not the web app. It must handle APFS clones, snapshots and cloud placeholder files without wrong sizes.
- CommercialA free open-source tool and a $9.99 one-time rival make it hard to charge. Pro features may not be enough reason to pay.
- Intellectual propertySunburst disk maps are a common idea. The name, visuals and wording must stay distinct from existing disk analyzers, and the name needs a trademark check.
- DataScans contain file names that may be private. Shared snapshots need clear redaction options so users do not leak personal paths.
