About this appAI proposal
Plainchart is a FHIR-native backend for teams building patient-facing or provider-facing health apps. Create a project, get standard patient, encounter and observation records behind REST and GraphQL APIs, and skip writing the data layer yourself.
Next to the APIs sits a compliance console that runs in your phone or browser. It tracks access logs, who can read what, and the HIPAA and SOC 2 tasks still open, so a small team can see where it stands before a customer or auditor asks.
It is for developers and small digital health teams that find generic backend platforms too bare and legacy EHR integrations too heavy. Start free in a sandbox with synthetic data, then move to a production project.

- Why this name
- Plain words for a plain promise: health records you can read, and a compliance state you can check, without decoding standards.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
FHIR resources out of the box
Pre-built models for common resources, validated on write, so your app stores standard data from day one.

GraphQL and REST APIs
Query patients, encounters and observations with one typed GraphQL schema, or use standard REST calls.

Compliance checklist
A live list of HIPAA and SOC 2 tasks tied to your project settings, with owners and due dates.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Partners and integrations. Developers find it through FHIR, GraphQL and digital health tooling communities, sample apps and starter templates that use Plainchart as the backend, then add teammates to their project.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who try the sandbox can become paying users when they go to production. Test how many sandbox projects move to a paid production project within 60 days.
- First customers
- Seed-stage digital health startups of 2 to 10 people, building a patient-facing app in the US, with no dedicated compliance staff.
- Where to reach them
- Developer communities: Post sample apps and a tutorial on building a FHIR app in a day in health-developer forums and chat groups.
- Open starter templates: Publish free templates on GitHub that use the sandbox, linking to the compliance checklist.
- Direct outreach: Message founders and engineers at early digital health startups, offering a free setup call.
- First milestone
- Five startups run a production project and pay for Launch within 90 days of opening the sandbox.

RisksAI inference
- RegulatoryHandling real patient data brings HIPAA duties, BAAs and breach liability. A SOC 2 report takes time, and the checklist can't promise a customer passes an audit.
- CommercialOpen-source projects with large followings already offer FHIR and compliance infrastructure for free. Plainchart must win on simplicity and the compliance console, not on features.
- TechnicalFHIR is large. Covering search, references, versions and subscriptions correctly takes work, and partial support may break teams' apps.
- PlatformA PWA has limited push support on some phones, so alerts may be less reliable than a native app.
- DataTeams must trust a young vendor with sensitive records. Export, self-hosting options and clear data-deletion terms may be needed before anyone moves production data.
