About this appAI proposal
Pacemark is a monthly credit plan for AI coding. You pick a monthly allowance, and it is yours to spend whenever you like: a heavy Tuesday, a quiet week, a release crunch. There are no weekly windows that force you to burn credits before they reset.
It sits between your editor and the models. Each request is routed to a fast model or a powerful one, by your rule or by your choice per task, and every request shows what it cost. A pace line shows whether you are ahead of or behind your month.
Plan changes are never silent. Any change to allowances, models or limits is shown in the app and emailed well before it takes effect, so a paying developer can decide what to do first.

- Why this name
- Pace is the core idea: spreading use across a month. A mark is the point on the line where you stand today. Two plain words joined, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One monthly allowance
Credits are counted over the whole billing month. No weekly resets, no use-it-or-lose-it windows inside the month.

Pace line
See spend against an even-pace guide, plus a projection of where the month ends if you keep going like this.

Fast or powerful per task
Set a default model and switch per request. Quick edits go to a cheap model, hard refactors to a stronger one.

Cost before you send
Each request shows an estimated credit range up front and the actual cost afterwards.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Developers use it privately inside their editors, so its use is not visible to others. It reaches customers through content, community posts and word of mouth among developers comparing tools.
- Do they become customers?
- Reached developers are the buyers, but there is no built-in loop. Test whether posts on monthly pacing and change notices convert free users to the paid Plan tier.
- First customers
- Solo developers and freelancers who already pay for an AI coding subscription and have hit usage limits or switched tools because of them.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Reddit: Share a free pace-line tracker and a write-up on monthly versus weekly usage limits; invite readers to the waitlist.
- Developer newsletters: Sponsor or pitch a short piece to newsletters read by independent developers.
- Developer Discord servers: Offer early access to members who complain about limits, and collect feedback on allowances.
- First milestone
- Twenty paying developers on the Plan tier within 60 days, with at least half still active in their second month.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialModel providers set the cost base. If wholesale prices or terms change, monthly allowances may not stay profitable at a price developers accept.
- PlatformProvider terms may limit reselling or pooling access to their models. Bring-your-own-key mode may be needed for some of them.
- TechnicalA proxy in the editor path adds delay and a point of failure. Developers will drop it if completions feel slower or break.
- CommercialRollover and no weekly limits invite heavy users who cost more than average. Allowances and fair-use rules need testing.
- DataCode passes through the service. Developers will want clear no-training and no-retention terms before they trust it.
