About this appAI proposal
Trellis is a TypeScript full-stack framework with the backend pieces built in: auth, a MongoDB database, scheduled jobs and observability. You start a project and your coding agent finds these parts already wired together, instead of stitching several services.
It is for developers and small teams who build apps with AI coding agents, especially in TypeScript and Node.js. Agents get typed models and a single, predictable way to change data shapes, so they spend fewer tokens on boilerplate and are less likely to break on schema changes.
A hosted cloud backend and a DevOps dashboard are optional. They run your app in production and show what your agent changed and how the app is doing.

- Why this name
- A trellis is a frame that plants grow along. Trellis gives agent-written apps a ready structure to grow on.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Auth ready on day one
Sign-up, sessions and roles come built in and typed, so the agent adds protected routes without writing login code.

Typed models, safe changes
Define data shapes once in TypeScript. Changes are checked at build time, so agents see errors before deploy.
No member yet
Agent-friendly schema flow
One documented way to evolve data on MongoDB, with automatic checks on existing documents, so agents don't improvise migrations.
No member yet
Built-in scheduled jobs
Declare cron jobs in code. Runs, retries and failures show up in the dashboard with no extra service.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. Apps deployed on the hosted backend can show a small 'Built on Trellis' badge on the default login page and status page. Open templates shared by developers also carry the framework name.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers of the badge are mostly developers, so some could become users. Test whether the badge and shared templates bring sign-ups, and whether those sign-ups start projects and later pay.
- First customers
- Solo developers and teams of 2 to 5 building TypeScript and Node.js apps with AI coding agents, who are tired of wiring auth, database and cron services for each new project.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Share a Show HN with a demo of an agent building a full app in one session, and answer comments in the thread.
- Open starter templates: Publish free templates for common apps that agent users can fork and try with their own agent.
- Developer communities: Post agent-built walkthroughs on developer forums and Discords for AI coding.
- First milestone
- Ten teams deploy a real app on the hosted backend, and five of them pay for it within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialDevelopers may keep using separate managed services they already know, or accept a framework only if it is free, so paid hosting may be hard to sell.
- TechnicalPromising that agents can change schemas safely on MongoDB is hard. Edge cases in existing data could cause failed or lossy changes.
- AIAgent tools and models change fast. Guide files and conventions may need constant updates to keep working with new agents.
- PlatformRunning customers' databases and auth makes uptime, backups and security a core duty for a small team.
- DataHosting user data and logs raises privacy and data-handling duties that must be met before launch.
