About this appAI proposal
Tally is a gym membership manager for owners who don't want an IT project. Sign up members, take recurring payments, run the class timetable and see who is coming in, all from a phone or the front-desk browser.
It is built for single-site gyms and small clubs that now use spreadsheets or a heavy legacy system. Setup is a guided checklist: import your member list, pick plans, connect payments. Your data exports any time as plain files, so you are never locked in.
Billing and renewals run on their own. Lapsing members surface early so staff can reach out before they leave.

- Why this name
- A tally is how front desks have always counted visits and members. Short, plain, easy to say, and it hints at counting without naming any product.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Guided import and setup
Upload a spreadsheet of members, map columns, choose plans and go live from one checklist.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Members get a branded join page, class booking link and payment receipts that carry a small 'Powered by Tally' line. Owners share the join and timetable links on social media and websites.
- Do they become customers?
- Members and visitors are mostly not gym owners, so exposure rarely converts. Test whether staff or owners who also work at or know other gyms click the footer link and start a trial.
- First customers
- Owners of independent single-location gyms and studios with 100 to 400 members who track members in spreadsheets.
- Where to reach them
- Local outreach: Visit or call independent gyms in one city and offer free import of their member list.
- Owner communities: Post in gym-owner forums and groups with a short setup demo and a free trial.
- Open-source community: Publish the export format and a migration guide to attract people looking for lock-in-free tools.
- First milestone
- Five single-location gyms in one city paying monthly after a 30-day trial, with billing run through the app.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialThe material names no competitors or prices, so these tiers are untested starting points. Established systems may be hard to displace in gyms with contracts and staff habits.
- RegulatoryTaking recurring member payments brings card-data, direct-debit and consumer cancellation rules that differ by country and need checking before launch.
- DataMember lists are messy. Imports with duplicates and odd formats may cause billing errors, and member personal data needs careful handling.
- TechnicalDoor access hardware and barcode scanners vary. A browser-based check-in may not work with a gym's existing turnstiles.
- CommercialEvidence is a GitHub repository with stars and one public claim. It shows interest in open tools, not proven willingness to pay.
