About this appAI proposal
Keelson reads the settings of a running Home Assistant instance, including those that can now only be changed in the UI, and writes them as plain files in your Git repository. You review changes as diffs and apply them back from a pull request.
It is for people who run their home like a small infrastructure project: GitOps users, developers and infrastructure engineers who want a rebuild from scratch to give the same result. An open GitHub issue about the removed YAML HTTP server setting has 37 reactions.
Unlike editing in the UI and hoping to remember what changed, Keelson shows drift between your repository and the live system and can restore the declared state. It does not replace Home Assistant; it sits beside it.

- Why this name
- A keelson is the beam that fixes a ship's frame to its keel: the part that holds the structure steady and in place.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Export UI-only settings to files
Pull settings that have no YAML option into readable, sorted files that give clean diffs in Git.

Apply from a pull request
Merge a change in your repository and Keelson applies it to the instance, with a dry run first.

Drift detection
See when a setting was changed in the UI, then keep it, commit it or revert it.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Keelson is used privately on a home's own setup. Public example repositories could show its format, but the product itself spreads through content and community posts.
- Do they become customers?
- Readers of a public repository may be potential customers, but that is untested. Test whether people who find example repos or guides sign up and pay for pull request apply.
- First customers
- Home Assistant users who already keep their config in Git and run it with GitOps or infra-as-code tools, such as infrastructure engineers with one to three instances.
- Where to reach them
- Home Assistant GitHub issue: Reply in the open issue and related threads with a working export of the removed setting, as a free tool.
- Home Assistant community forum: Post a guide on keeping UI-only settings in Git, with the free tier linked.
- Self-hosting communities: Share a GitOps walk-through in homelab and self-hosting forums and subreddits.
- First milestone
- Ten users on the free tier apply a change from a pull request, and five of them pay for Pro within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedOpen GitHub issue has 37 reactions and 15 comments
- Public claimHome Assistant removed the ability to configure the HTTP server through YAML, forcing users to use the UI instead, which breaks infrastructure-as-code and GitOps workflows.
- AI inferenceAt least 37 users upvoted this issue, indicating broader demand for programmatic configuration support.
- Public claimHome Assistant states on its own website: Over 2.7 million households use Home Assistant

RisksAI inference
- PlatformHome Assistant could change or restrict the interfaces used to read and write UI-only settings, breaking export and apply between releases.
- TechnicalSome UI-only settings may not be writable through any supported interface, so apply may only work for part of the setup.
- CommercialThe audience is technical and may prefer to build scripts themselves; willingness to pay is untested beyond issue upvotes.
- TechnicalA wrong apply could lock users out of their own instance, so safe rollback and restart handling must be reliable.
- DataExported settings may contain network details and tokens; careless handling would leak private home data.
