About this appAI proposal
Lookfor is a file browser that understands what is inside your files. Type what you remember, such as "the slide with the blue funnel chart" or "the interview where she mentions pricing", and it finds PDFs, images, video, audio, spreadsheets and slides in one list.
It is built for researchers, creative professionals and teams whose libraries have grown past what folders can hold, especially with generated media. An assistant can propose a tidy-up, summarize a set of files or gather sources, and shows every step before it changes anything.
Unlike a plain cloud drive or the built-in file explorer, search is not limited to filenames and basic metadata. Nothing is moved or renamed without your approval, and every change can be undone.

- Why this name
- Two plain words joined: what you do when a file is lost. Easy to say, and it states the job without technical terms.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.

PricingAI proposal
Dropbox's pricing page (verified) lists one paid plan at €12 a month, a free plan and prices on request for larger customers. The $10 for 2 TB comes from the opportunity's idea and is a starting point to test.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users share a search result, a research summary or a folder link with colleagues and clients. The recipient opens a page that shows the sources and carries the Lookfor name.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients can see the product and may have the same problem, but a one-time link is not a customer. Test how many shared-link viewers start a free account.
- First customers
- Independent researchers and small creative studios with libraries over 500 GB of mixed documents, images, video and audio, who work with generated media.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Show HN: Post a demo of searching a mixed library. The material shows this topic already draws interest.
- Creator communities: Offer free indexing for studio libraries in design and video forums in return for feedback.
- First milestone
- Ten paying users with libraries over 500 GB who use search weekly for four weeks.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialDropbox, Google Drive and the OS already hold people's files. Users may not move or connect a large library for search alone.
- TechnicalA PWA cannot index a local disk like a native app. The first version works on uploaded or connected cloud files, which may limit who adopts it.
- CommercialEmbedding and transcribing terabytes of video costs real money. A $10 for 2 TB plan may not cover it, and margins need testing early.
- AISearch quality across mixed formats is only claimed publicly in the material. Wrong matches or wrong agent actions would quickly lose trust.
- DataUsers hand over private and client files. Security, retention and the use of third-party models need clear terms and review.
