About this appAI proposal
Docsbound is a chat assistant for small technical teams that answers questions only from their own internal documentation. Connect a Confluence space or upload Markdown and PDF files, then ask in plain language. Every answer cites the pages it came from.
If your docs do not contain the answer, Docsbound says so instead of reaching for the open web or guessing. Nothing outside your documents is mixed in, so you can tell what your team has written down and what is missing.
It is built for collections of dozens to a few hundred documents, where a full enterprise suite is more than you need. It also lists the questions it could not answer, so you know what to document next.

- Why this name
- Docs plus bound: answers are bound to your own documents. Two plain parts, easy to say and spell.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Internal sources only
Answers are built only from the documents you connect. No web fallback, no outside knowledge mixed in.

Cited answers
Each reply links to the exact pages and passages used, so anyone can check it in one click.

Honest "not found"
When the docs do not cover a question, it says so and offers the closest pages instead of inventing an answer.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. One person sets up a workspace and invites teammates by email so they can ask questions. Cited answers link into the app, and new hires meet it in onboarding.
- Do they become customers?
- Invited teammates are on the same team and can lift the plan limit, but the account is usually held by one buyer. Test how many invitees lead to a second team or a paid upgrade.
- First customers
- Engineering teams of 5 to 30 people that keep 50 to 300 internal docs in Confluence, reached through an engineering lead or developer-experience owner.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and dev forums: Reply in threads about doc search and Rovo, and offer a free index of a team's space for feedback.
- Atlassian community forums: Answer questions about search in Confluence and link a short demo that shows the 'not found' answer.
- Direct outreach: Message engineering leads at small software companies with a 10-minute setup offer.
- First milestone
- Ten teams connect real docs and five pay for a Team plan within eight weeks.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimTeams have small, manageable documentation collections (around 50 docs and growing) that they want to search
- Public claimDocumentation search is identified as a low-hanging fruit pain point for teams
- Public claimExisting vendor solution (Atlassian Rovo) fails to restrict answers to internal documentation
- Public claimThe RAG chatbot is meant to be driven by a small number of queries from a team

RisksAI inference
- AIThe model may still add outside knowledge or misread a passage. Needs strict retrieval-only prompts, a relevance threshold for 'not found', and tests with real doc sets.
- PlatformConfluence API limits, permission rules or vendor changes could break sync, and Atlassian may improve its own search.
- CommercialEvidence is public claims only. Small teams with about 50 docs may not pay, or may build their own simple version.
- DataTeams must trust a new vendor with internal docs. Needs clear data handling, per-team isolation and deletion on request.
- TechnicalKeeping the index current and respecting page-level permissions from Confluence is harder than simple uploads.
