About this appAI proposal
Tallybook is a simple invoicing app for freelancers and small business owners. Create an invoice in under a minute, send it as a link or PDF, and see at a glance which ones are paid, due or late.
It works offline as an installable web app. Draft invoices on a train or at a client site, and they sync when you reconnect. One account works on phone and desktop, with no setup beyond your business details.
The app stays small on purpose: clients, invoices, payments and a short list of follow-ups. Reminders and reports are there when you need them, and out of the way when you don't.

- Why this name
- A tally is the oldest way to count what is owed, and a book is where a small business keeps it. Two plain words, easy to say.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Every invoice goes to a client as a link or PDF with a small 'Sent with Tallybook' line on the free tier. Clients who run their own business may try it.
- Do they become customers?
- Many clients are not freelancers, so conversion is uncertain. Test how many invoice recipients click through and then start their own account.
- First customers
- Solo freelance designers and developers in one country, billing 3 to 10 clients a month and currently using spreadsheets or documents.
- Where to reach them
- Freelancer communities: Offer free setup help and collect feedback in forums and chat groups where freelancers discuss late payments.
- Search content: Publish invoice templates and late-payment guides that lead into the app.
- First milestone
- Ten freelancers send at least five real invoices each and three of them pay for Solo within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialInvoicing is a crowded category and the material names no competitors or prices. It is unclear what would make a freelancer switch. This needs testing.
- RegulatoryInvoice rules, tax lines and payment handling differ by country. Starting in one country keeps the scope small.
- TechnicalOffline edits across devices can conflict, for example invoice numbers. The sync design needs care.
- PlatformStripe Connect onboarding and fees may put off some users. Support for other payment methods may be needed.
- DataThe only evidence is one public repository with 401 stars over 2812 days. That shows steady interest but not willingness to pay.
