About this appAI proposal
Tidegrid is a calendar and date-picker component kit for JavaScript and TypeScript developers. One core engine drives thin wrappers for React, Vue, Svelte and Angular, so a team that changes framework keeps its calendar logic and event data.
Events are exchanged as iCalendar data. Month, week, day and agenda views, drag to move, resize and recurring events are built in. Styling uses plain CSS variables, so the calendar matches your design system without deep selector overrides.
The core is open source. A paid plan would add support, prebuilt scheduler views and early releases. This is a proposal: the free and paid split needs testing with real developers.

- Why this name
- Tide suggests the steady rhythm of days and weeks; grid is the layout of every calendar. Two plain words, easy to say.

PricingAI proposal
FullCalendar's verified pricing page lists one paid plan at $480 a year plus a free plan. Pro is set below that as a starting point to test. The material gives no price for the open-source alternative.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. Apps built with Tidegrid show a small 'Built with Tidegrid' link in the calendar footer on the free plan; Pro removes it. Developers also find it through GitHub and docs.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers of that link are mostly end users, not developers. To test: how many calendar users who click the link are developers who then install it.
- First customers
- Small SaaS teams of 2 to 10 developers using React who are building booking or scheduling features and find their current calendar library limiting.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and npm: Publish the open-source core with clear comparison pages and migration guides from existing libraries.
- Framework communities: Post demos in React, Vue and Svelte forums and Discords, answering calendar questions.
- First milestone
- Five small teams paying for Pro within 90 days of launch, with 500 GitHub stars.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialOpen-source calendar libraries are free, so developers may not pay for extras. The paid split between Core and Pro is unproven.
- TechnicalKeeping behaviour identical across four framework wrappers, plus recurrence and time zone edge cases, takes steady testing.
- CommercialAn existing library with a growing GitHub following already targets the same gap, so Tidegrid needs a clear difference.
- Intellectual propertyOpen-source licence choice affects what can be sold; the licence must be checked to avoid copying code from similar projects.
