Desktop and mobile: Team members search and read answers opportunistically on phones during work, but moderators review gaps, maintain quality, and manage custom reactions at desks. Sample screens on a computer and a phone, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Hearth Notes is a chat layer for teams that want to find what they once knew. It indexes your open conversations and lets anyone search with a plain question, even without knowing the exact words or the channel.
It also gives teams a lively common room: a pinned general space, custom team reactions and casual prompts, so chat feels like talking rather than filing email threads.
It suits teams moving between chat tools or unhappy with the trade-offs. Open channels are the default, so knowledge is not lost in closed rooms, and your history stays exportable.

- Why this name
- A hearth is where a team gathers, and notes are what it keeps. The two words say community and memory in plain speech.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Ask, don't guess keywords
Type a question and get matching messages, threads and files ranked by relevance, with the people who answered it before.

Open by default
New channels start open and searchable. Going private asks for a reason, and private rooms show what is left out of search.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A team needs everyone in the workspace to make the common room and search useful, so admins invite colleagues. Guests can be invited into single open channels.
- Do they become customers?
- Invitees are coworkers who can become paying seats or push the team to upgrade. Test whether invite rates rise when a team imports its history and finds a past answer in week one.
- First customers
- Teams of 20 to 100 people at software or agency companies that recently moved from Slack to Teams, led by an operations or IT manager.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Reddit: Share a short write-up on losing search after a chat migration, with a free history-import tool as the hook.
- Direct outreach: Message ops and IT leads at small companies who posted about migration pain, and offer a free pilot.
- Founder and ops communities: Join Slack groups and forums for operations leads, and run live demos of search on their own exports.
- First milestone
- Ten teams import their history and five convert to paid seats within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedSlack's pricing page lists 2 paid plans, from €8.25 to €18 a month, plus a free plan and prices on request for larger customers
- Public claimThe loss of easily searchable institutional knowledge when switching to Teams resulted in significant wasted effort and monetary costs
- AI inferenceTeams' threaded UI and design discourages casual, personable communication compared to Slack, reducing team engagement and community feeling
- Public claimTeams defaulting to closed channels makes information difficult or impossible to search, compounding knowledge loss

RisksAI inference
- CommercialTeams rarely switch chat tools for search alone. A standalone chat product must beat entrenched incumbents, so a search layer on top of existing chat may be the real test.
- PlatformImporting or connecting to other chat platforms depends on their export formats and API terms, which can change or limit access.
- AISemantic search may return wrong or outdated answers. Users need visible sources and freshness checks to trust results.
- DataIndexing company conversations holds sensitive data. Buyers will ask for permission-aware search, retention controls and clear security practices.
- TechnicalReal-time chat in a PWA has limits on push notifications and background behaviour, especially on some mobile browsers.
