About this appAI proposal
Plainpost is an email, calendar and contacts app that runs as a web app on old laptops, low-end phones and tablets. It opens fast, keeps its memory use small and works with the accounts you already have, over IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV and JMAP.
It is for people who feel their mail client has become the heaviest thing on the machine. Plainpost shows a message list, a reader and a composer, and leaves out the extras. Recent mail is cached on the device, so it opens at once, even offline.
Your mail stays with your provider, so you can leave at any time. This is a proposal: speed and memory goals need testing on real low-end devices before any promise is made.

- Why this name
- Plain says what it is: simple, no extras. Post is the old word for mail. Two short words joined, easy to say and spell.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Plainpost reaches customers through content, search and communities. Mail sent from it carries no required footer, so there is no built-in loop.
- Do they become customers?
- People find it by searching for a lighter mail client. Test whether visitors on old hardware install it and whether some then pay for Plus.
- First customers
- Individuals on older laptops or low-end phones who use IMAP accounts, starting with people in privacy and open-source communities who already complain about heavy clients.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source and privacy forums: Post a speed and memory comparison with method shared and invite testers on older devices.
- Refurbished laptop sellers: Offer small resellers a free setup guide to give buyers with refurbished machines.
- Short demo videos: Show cold start on an old laptop against a heavy client, with the numbers measured.
- First milestone
- 200 weekly active users on old hardware and 20 paying Plus subscribers within 90 days of launch.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalA web app cannot match a native app's memory use. The 100 MB goal in the material is for a native client, so Plainpost needs measuring on weak devices.
- PlatformBrowsers limit background sync and push on some phones, so new-mail alerts may be slower than native apps.
- RegulatoryThe gateway handles mail credentials and message content, which brings security duties and privacy rules to meet.
- CommercialFree open-source clients already exist, and users may not pay for speed alone. Evidence of paying demand is not in the material.
- PlatformLarge providers may require OAuth app review before third-party apps can connect to their accounts.
